Treating myself

Today I got myself a great treat
I've always wanted a hammock
We had one years ago that we had strung between two poles but I wanted one I could move around and if
I really wanted I could take anywhere

Well I found this today at Aldi
Yup. My favourite store!

It had this little panel and even though in the past, this has been an outright lie I decided I'd
Give it a go

It really was easy and took no time at all
So now I'm blogging in my new hammock. Enjoying the breeze
All I need now is someone to keep giving me drinks!

Film review. Rogue one

Last night hubby and I were picked up by our son and daughter in law and we all went off to see the new start wars movie
Rogue one
It's the latest instalment in the franchise and although it isn't actually part of the major story line. It is about an incident that is
A very important part of the story
So it fills in some gaps for those of us that wondered what did happen during that time

If your a fan, it's a must see
If your not well it's still a fantastic movie and it just might get you addicted to the whole drama
I highly recommend it

That was Christmas

Here we all are Christmas Day at my sister in laws house.
It was sooooo hot but we all had a great day

There are a few of us lol

Melody with some her mums cousins.
Her god mother keeping an eye on her. She was so good. And was the life of the party lol

Boxing Day was spent at my parents house for my families Christmas get together
Thank goodness it was a cooler day

Perfect for the traditional lamb on the spit

Melody loved her first lamb a la Greek style

So that's it for another year.
So very tired now. But happy
Hope you all had a wonderful time with your family and friends

Hot, dam hot!

Christmas morning and it's hot already
I, going to my sister in laws house so I won't be here to check on the pets for a few hours

So we have moved the birds to where they can get any nice southerly breezes

And given them an ice block each to keep them cool and provide constant cool water

The dogs water has been brought in under cover and has had heaps of ice added.  Again to keep it cool while I'm not here to do it

And the chickens have been given a bowl of ice. As well as their usual water source
Now I can leave them and know they will bare fine until I get back
Then I'm betting we will all have a huge water fight!
Enjoy your day everyone
Merry Christmas

One down. A couple to go

Here we are all set up for our work Christmas BBQ
Our boys, their partners and their kids were here today so we could just have good food, a few drinks and a
Lots of laughs

Both couple have a little girl each and one couple are expecting their second baby any day now!
It's all very exciting
So presents were giving to the little ones, and they had a ball running around and playing
While the adults just relaxed
I always love this day
Didn't get any pics of everyone here. I was busy just having a lovely time

A few more Christmas dinners to enjoy,
The diet is going to get a bit of a beating.
Lots of walking in my future I think lol

Not exactly to plan

This little corner has given me a bit of a headache.
Not as Zen as it looks right now

This Buddha was at the reject shop. I had been looking at him for a few weeks.
Wasn't sure where I would put him. So I left him there while I pondered

Well I decided to move the dogs couch from that wall. I moved it closer to the house. As when it pours rain
It comes through the crack between the two roofs and wets it.
Not always. But when it's coming down hard the cutters just cannot cope.

Which left me a bare wall
Over the weekend I purchased the wall art and began the drama that was the production of the zen space

As you can see. It's not centre. That's because that's where the stud is. Therefore that is the only place we can screw the artwork safely.
As we have besser , concrete,  walls. We have never needed a stud finder
So off we went to bunnings hardware to purchase a stud finder as we couldn't find it without one.

So now we have a stud finder, which we will probably never use again.

Anyway. That little Buddha came into mind again. But again I wasn't sure
Then I saw him at a friends facebook page. He looked lovely
She lives in Adelaide so we won't have people saying we both had the same things

This little Buddha has a solar light and a solar water pump.
I knew it wouldn't get the sun where I wanted to place it. So I read on the box it had a five meter cord
Great I thought. I can place that in the sun
What I didn't know. Is that cord is for the pump. I'm not fussed about the pump. What I really wanted was the light.
But the solar panel for the light is at the back of his head
See the problem.

I was not a happy camper.
Don't like it when plans don't work.

So I went looking for another Buddha bust to put here and I was going to move this one to somewhere it can get sun
But I count find anything I liked

So for now he stays. The cords have been put away safely
And I've added the pots and plants
So now I'm just going to chill out and let the universe take care of it
Thinking a few crystals and something to hold incense in and it's done

Well what do you think?
I'm happy. For now

A little bit of prevention

This is a water fountain for cats.
Not it doesn't spurt water high into the air
But gently reticulates it keeping it fresh and aerated

Last week. While brushing Agatha I notice she had a little "dandruff"
He fur has also been feeling funny in that area as well. Just on her back at the base of her tail
I checked for fleas and I treated everyone for fleas, as I do every month and I couldn't see any

So I got onto google and found out that it could be from lack of water
I do know. She is very fussy with the water. And will meow at me at least once every few days telling me she didn't like the stuff in the water dish

I do change it every day. But sometimes by the end of the day she just won't drink it. So I have to give her fresh stuff
Anyway this water fountain keeps it moving. And it has a filter as well

So this week. I have noticed she is drinking more, there is more wee in the kitty litter. And her fur is starting to feel nice and soft again
If this hadn't worked. The we would of been to the vets to test for diabetes

Looks like this won't be necessary now
It wasn't cheap, but it at $70.00. It was th cheapest one there
Money well spent I think
I'm very happy. She is happy

A nice surprise

I often get lots of emails from various people trying to sell me stuff.
I get one regularly from the  kindle store department of amazon
Usually I just delete them. But this time this title caught my eye
Anyone that knows me. Knows I'm fascinated by anything to do with the Second World War. Not normally the actual fighting. But how people
Lived and survived
This story is about five woman and how they all end up working in a munitions factory making bombs for the men on the front line
I instantly downloaded it and for alnly four dollars more it also came as an audio book
I'm on chapter 12 and I'm hooked.
It's really well written and I love the characters.
I might have found a whole new series of books for me to listen to and read
The weather is still cold and wet. So I'm under a blanket on th couch listening to the audio book
It's so cold even my hands are hurting. So this is perfect for me today
Anyone else found a gem by accident?

A return to winter

Well after beautiful weather for the last few days. We have had a shocker today
Rain and wind and much cooler temps
Even some thunder!
That hum you hear is our ducted heating. I've switched it on as the munchkin is here today
Just to take the chill out of the air
What's the weather doing in your part of the world?

Getting my mojo back

Today I found some wonderful art for the backyard fences
I think this wall is done now. It really needed something in the  middle.

This dragonfly is perfect I think for in here. It blends in well and when we play I spy with melody, when she is a little older,
This one will be hard to find

Two more dragonflies. I love them!
And I did it all myslef. I used power tools and I had to find the right size screws for the job
Pretty chuffed. Who needs men lol

I also bought these fairies. They are solar and their wings will light up at night. Their solar panels are on the back so I'm not sure where they
Will go. I've got them here charging for now. I'm sure I'll find somewhere for them
So I've been busy today pottering around. Did a little more shopping for hubby's Christmas presents and as we have a baby coming soon
Our wonderful worker terry and his partner are expecting their second child any day now, I went out baby shopping too
It's a wonderful time here right now
Hope your having a wonderful time too

The things we do

This is just one of the things we do
When we have an on the move baby in the house
Now I don't have to worry about melody getting into cat food, water or poop!

Getting summer ready

Although the hot weather really hadn't started yet. You can see it's really dry here
Getting water to the stock is hard work. But now the new back fence is done and the door is better positioned we have put a bathtub close so I can at least keep one full constantly

View from the old permaculture area. With me being sick all these last years  it's all gone.
Breaks my heart really
But you can see the back hose reaches easily. So it's not hard to fill the tub

And the view from the outdoor covered area
I can see instantly if they have water
Hopefully we get rain occasionally during the summer months

Last of the babies. ?

The last two babies are out. This one was out of its nest a few days ago. A pretty green

And this one came out today.
The first three babies were from the same nest. But this one from another.
It's mother had now gone in to look after the eggs if the third nest. It's mummy has given up on them
So who knows. Maybe more.

First day of summer

Summer is here so I thought I'd show you what's happening in the garden
We have baby tomatoes

And some corn

It's not very high. Not sure what breed these are. We were given seedlings from a friend. So just grateful and we will eat whatever grows

The berries were neglected and we totally forgot to cut them back. But they still have produced some berries. Yummy

The garlic almost ready to harvest. I planted in the shortest day of the year. Will harvest on the longest

Over the weekend we planted some cucumber seedlings

The oregano is going strong. Will harvest some over the weekend and start drying for winter use

This is my wishing well. With the only rose that survived in the hanging baskets out front. The possums ate them. This was right in the middle. I'd say they couldn't reach it

My climber had come back after frost killed it over winter and the roses are still full of flowers

And my flower corner is coming along. Again frost killed some plants. So I'll need to replant some pots
So all is well here. A long hot summer is predicted. I'll be mulching and keeping the water up to these
What's happening in your part of the world?
See ya

A little bit of Christmas

This is my Christmas decorating  almost done for this year
I bought myself an optic fibre tree and if you look closely you will see the lights as the end of the branches
They change colours so I don't need any decorations on it
With two cats and a very active baby I'm thinking this is the best option
I have the Christmas shopping almost done
Don't like the crowds so I like to get it all done and dusted well before Christmas
I have a wreath on my door and some indoor lights and that's about it.
For those that know me. This is a lot
I really am a Scrooge at Christmas. I not into all the commercialism and the frenectic hype
I just like it for the kids, and the getting together with the ones that matter
So Christmas will be a less hectic affair this year. Christmas Day is at my sister in laws
What are your plans?  Are you getting organised?

The boys are back

The boys were dropped off today
Don't they look handsome after their relaxing holiday away at the beauty spa lol

And here is their fleece
I have a friend who knows how to spin. So I'm hoping she will be able to teach me and another friend of ours how to do it
There is lots here to practice on
Exciting isn't it

Feeding time

Have given  my budgies some fresh greens.
They love the parsley so I tried some apple as well
They have nibbled it. But the parsley is the clear winner
Might have to plant more

Because I'm a good girl

Today I had to go to the dentist.
I hate going to the dentist because I don't like pain or needles
But I had to go.
So because I was a good girl. And I didn't need anyone to hold my hand I decided to treat myself

I needed new bathers. Swimming four times a week really ruins them quickly
To buy new ones from the specialist shop is really expensive
But during the winter. That's pretty much the only place you can buy them.

So seeing the sale signs at millers and knowing that I need new swimmers I decided to go now and get some
They had lots of swimming gear and only $20.00 each. Bargain
Having spent, reluctantly over $100.00 on a pair in the middle of winter. I really loved the special price tag

So at that price. I bought five new pairs.
I think I should be right now for another year
Or until millers have another sale

A productive morning

I've been itching to get back into it outside
I wanted to pretty up the front.
So the mission began with the solar trees
And this is how we are progressing
Plant holding shelves with coloured pots and semi shade living plants

Here they are all potted up
I love nick nacks outside. So I'll continue to aquire these and add to the collection over time

Then out back. These two garden beds were ruined by rabbits last year. The fence is now finished so hopefully my new seedlings will grow

I even put seedlings in the big pot.
No use wasting space.
And my hanging birdcage planters I made nearly didn't make it last summer.
So I've added coconut fibre. Hopefully it will help protect the plants from the heat.
So I have been a busy girl today.
Still lots to do. But I'm going to need hubby's help
We need to do some major cutting back
But that's another day and another post

Pretties

Ever since my sons and daughter in laws wedding I have wanted a light up tree.
The reception place had magnificent ones that looked amazing at night.
Obviously I can't have those, not a bank robber, so I kept a look out for something smaller and more affordable
Yesterday I found these.
Yup at Aldi
Only $50.00 each
Still a lot of money. But much cheaper than anywhere else I've seen for the size

So I bought two white ones and one pink one
This is the pink one. It will light up that dark area at night

And the two white light ones
Should have enough light to be able to open the door if I forget to leave the outside light on
And I put them all together all by my self. So they were very easy

Here they are all lit up. It wasn't very dark yet. Just on dusk.
They did get brighter as it got darker

And the pink one. Isn't it pretty.
I have the white ones on all the time. And the pink flashing
Very happy girl I am
