Today Ana and her parents had an appointment at the school down the road from us.
It’s the school her daddy and aunt went too. And hopefully she will start attending next year I know how is she old enough to be starting school next year
The appointment was at 11oclock.
The original plan was daddy would come in the morning as usual, with the girls
And mummy would arrive in time to go to the meeting.
But then the mango Mussolini did what he does and now the whole world is in a fuel crisis
So plan B
Mummy was always going to work from home today. But instead of using two cars, the whole family arrived this morning.

She set up her work space and got into it.
Meanwhile I did what I normally do on a Friday.
The bonus was. I didn’t need to heat milk and feed Georgia.
She could drink straight from the tap!
I was able to spend that time with Ana

We started with Ana having a small area of floor space to colour in and do some drawings.
She eventually spread out as more and more of the craft supplies were added to her “ work space “
I’m still trying to get her into the habit of putting small things away so that when Georgia starts crawling we won’t have any accidents.
She is pretty good now. Just a few instances where the offending objects were hidden behind her or she was sitting on them

Georgia was much happier to sit in the play station the seat can spin round and give her lots of views of her surroundings
But she’s not quite strong enough to move it

Ana was showing her sister all the different toys we have added for her to play with

After lunch, stewed fruit, I gave her some baby rusks. These pretty much dissolve as soon as saliva hits it.
Still grandma was right there the whole time

Yesterday I got my stock pot out to make, funnily enough, some stock lol
I boiled one of our home grown and processed chicken.
No. Not the rooster. He’s still walking around.
I boiled the whole chicken until it was well and truly cooked.
I then took it out to cool and then took all the meat off the bones chopping it all into bite size pieces
I then placed all that meat into a smaller pot with some of the stock, and egg noodles
Once the noodles were cooked I let the whole thing cool while I got the egg and lemon mix ready.
I added that to the pot and mixed well until the egg cooked
This is the Greek chicken soup. I think traditionally it’s made with rice. But I do the noodles as well. Just for a change.

Once completed cooled. I left it over night so that I can skim any excess fat from it. But I didn’t have to.
I’ve bagged it up and it’s now in the freezer I ended up with six of these bags. Once frozen I can take the baking dish out and just leave the bags in the freezer.
I’ve got one more chicken to do and some big beef bones, again raised here, and I’ll make beef stock
It will save me having to buy lots from the supermarket during winter. I do use quite a lot of stock in my cooking

And finally I used one of Georgias body suits to measure the cardigan I’m making
The yoke looks to be a perfect fit.
I’ve measured the length of the body and the arms. I can now continue knitting
Between that and making more hexies I’ve got enough to keep me busy during the evening while hubby watches all the sports he can
Winter has definitely arrived. Last night I lit the fire. I wanted the place nice and warm for the girls today.
It’s been going all day and we needed it.
There is a very cold blustery wind blowing from the south. There is nothing between us and the South Pole except for Tassie. It’s not big enough to block all the freezing winds. And I live about 45 minutes from the bottom of Victoria

So that’s it for now. I’m sure plans will chop and change now to save on excessive driving and using all the fuel we have.
The government has talked about a maximum amount limit anyone can buy
I fear this is going to get much worse before it gets better.
You've got it much worse down there. It seems strange when youre so far away from the conflict. Prices havent risen much here. Yet. Fuel prices have flattened out. I'm starting to stockpile flour and rice and other things that last a long time. There's no panic here. Again I say, YET!
ReplyDeleteYour fire looks so cosy and inviting. Youre very close to the South Pole.
I save up all our bones in the freezer and when Ive got a large bag I boil them overnight in the slowcooker and put them in containers like you. As little as possible gets wasted..
I would never be able to put noodles in chicken soup. Horrors. I bet they're amazing. But Mr Tradition would never eat them
Hugs to your little girls. So cute as usual...
Yes i normally don’t admit to that. But I know the bloggisters will keep it under their hats lol
DeleteI think being so far away it costs more to bring here and unfortunately most people live far and wide apart. Even in the cities our public transport is pretty crap. No money has been put into it for decades
Drinking straight from the tap, hahahaha! And I cannot believe that rooster is still walking around! HOW did he get his death sentence commuted?
ReplyDeleteHubby is a softy lol lol
DeleteI have trouble understanding a south wind as cold! My northern hemisphere outlook! Sorry the fuel situation is already hitting you, but you're all problem solvers, luckily.
ReplyDeleteIt does seem counter intuitive. But it really is our coldest point of the compass
DeleteAlice will be starting at that school next year. How cool if they become friends!
ReplyDeleteLike the others, I am surprised the rooster hasn't hit the pot yet!
That would be funny we don’t know yet if she will get in. They’re slightly out of the zone. Hopefully they will remember her last name. From her aunt. Her dad might be a liability lol
DeleteI could image having a fire like that in Australia.
ReplyDeleteWe need it Even though we don’t get snow it still gets bitterly cold
DeleteYep - Diesel has gone from 1.60 per litre to 3.40 per litre in 4 weeks and we are just about to take delivery of a new Diesel ute! 🙄 That soup sound just the ticket- I must try that.
