Food production

the garden has been neglected while we were in the crazy season.

Fortunately now we can get back into it

Unfortunately the plants thriving the best are the weeds

We can see progress, finally and hope to start harvesting soon

I’ll go out every day now and spend half an hour just maintaining it all.

With all the rain at least we haven’t had to   Water

We did get round to netting the fruit trees out front

What a drama we had. Between both of us being vertically challenged and the winds it took longer than it should have

We did get there eventually

While we were struggling with the fine nets, Dobby was tasked with chomping down the grass along the side of his paddock

If you look closely you will see ahead of him the long grass. See what a lovely job he is doing

Now we wait for the fruit to ripen.

This is the only way we get any to eat. I don’t mind sharing with the birds, if they ate the whole fruit. Instead the take a few bites and move to the next one.

So rude

  1. Well done with the nets. And good luck with the harvest! How annoying to see the fruit ruined. Hope you've foiled them this summer.
Dobby is doing a terrific job. Maybe that's what we need for our little plot. Weeds and nasturtiums are tall and waving rudely at us. It's been too wet to get out there but now we have dry days there's no excuse

    1. I’m sure there is a little donkey you could borrow. Or even a goat

    1. He’s great. We actually need to monitor his intake of calories because if he gets fat he will founder and that’s not good at all

    1. He does that just by being there and making his donkey noise. It makes everyone laugh and feel better

  4. Ooh I know what you mean about birds - a peck out of every ripe tomato. Dobby is doing a grand job. He's a very fluffy donkey isn't he.

    1. They’re such pests. He is shaggy but it’s been a cold winter. He will moult and get lighter. I hope

    1. I’ve had goats. You need very good fences to keep goats in. Otherwise you need to teather them and I think that’s cruel
