Today I started early I was continuously chopping up tomatoes
While I had two pots cooking them down it was much better way of cooking them
I had two nonstick pans going at the same time. cooking time was reduced and I was able to get the sauce into the jars quickly

They don’t look big but they actual held a lot of the chopped tomatoes
Once I had finished chopping as many tomatoes as I could I started the water baths I was beginning to get very sore legs and ankles standing all that time

The tall pot for the tall jars and the short pot for the rest
The top bench has the jars I made from the first box I didn’t quite finish that box I added what was left into the one box and threw out the empty one
All jars on the red tea towel were made today

This is all the tomatoes that are left
Tomorrow I’ll get hubby to pick all our peppers from the garden. I’ll chop those up and add them to the tomatoes.
That sauce will be excellent for spaghetti sauce
Baby girl and family arrived bringing pizzas for dinner
It was nice to just sit and enjoy talking with her and son in law.
The girls, as usual, amused themselves
They were very excited as the school term was over and they now get a few weeks holiday
I can’t believe the first term is over. It felt like they started the new year just a few weeks ago
They left for home loaded with bags of odd and ends. I like buying them clothes when I see something on special. Baby girl scored the best. A couple of cardigans, a coat, and two pairs of boots. We have the same size feet
I bought those boots for me but they’re lighter colours and I didn’t feel comfortable in them.
Like mutton dressed as lamb
So I’ve kept the black and dark brown ones. And she’s scored the light brown and off white ones
And of course eggs, some tomatoes and chocolate Easter eggs
I hope they enjoy all their spoils
I wear the same size as mmy daughter now and sometimes get a few odds and ends which i love. I wouldn't dare buy any clothes for them though. My taste is so different from theirs.
ReplyDeleteWell done omce again for persevering with all those tomatoes!! You needed that pizza after all your effort
Fortunately I know her style very well. She’s not that fussed about what she wears day to day. Since I only got her cardigans and a coat I couldn’t go far wrong.
DeleteAnd who doesn’t like boots. It’s the best part of winter wearing those
how long do you process the jars for?
ReplyDeleteIt depends on the size. But about forty minutes.
DeleteIf any don’t seal after they cool. I process them again and boil for about fifteen or twenty minutes more.
Apparently your weather and they hight above sea level also are factors. You might have to Google the information for where you are and decide how long is best for you
thanks 🙂
DeleteHow appropriate to see those tomatoes bubbling away, reducing into delicious tomato sauce for spaghetti, underneath a tile depicting Tuscany!
ReplyDeleteI so want to visit Tuscany, and eat my way around it.
DeleteI’m hoping this will help manifest that wish
I tend to inherit clothes from my son. Currently several collared tshirts!
ReplyDeleteAny clothes You keep out of landfill are always winners.
DeleteYou could even take a leaf out of ook’s book and turn them into quilts.
Oh my Goddess! I couldn't sleep last night so I peeled chopped and crushed garlic from the garden that I harvested this past March. I also needed to make Ghee so there was that. Kept my mind busy and now I'm paying for it. I might have to take a couple of days off but hey, I have a canning jar with sliced garlic in olive oil and ice cube trays full of crushed garlic in Ghee and I have a new canning jar of Ghee to last until winter. I wish there was a way of preserving fresh onions. They always turn mushy.
ReplyDeleteI cut them up and freeze them.
DeleteThen I just take out what I need.
Perfect for sauces and stews
Unfortunately if you want fresh onions your just going to have buy those.
