Lochs and islands

We had a lovely cruise today on Loch Lomond
If you know the song   And lots of people do.
He and his true love will never meet again
On the Bonny Bonny banks of Loch Lomond

Such a said song but a beautiful place

After the cruise we went to fort Williams for lunch and shopping

After a few more stops for picture opportunities

We also had a taste of drambuie

We have arrived at the isle of sky where are staying for the night.

Tomorrow we are on the hunt for hairy coo’s and sea monsters

Whiskey and bagpipes

This morning we did a tour of a distillery
We also got a few wee drams to taste.

Once we got back I had rest day. Most of the others had been dropped off at George’s square to explore.
Since our last stay in Glasgow just a little while ago was spent at George’s square. I have it a miss

Tonight we all went to Stirling to have dinner at the castle

We were piped down to dinner and had a fabulous display of songs and stories
Not to mention the food. Yummy

Now home and packing for another big day ahead.
Off to more adventures

Goodbye Ireland hello Scotland

This morning we did a driving tour of Belfast. Specifically the areas most affected by the troubles

We were all encouraged to sign the peace wall. It was a wall to keep the two areas that mostly had the violence separated. It wasn’t like the Berlin Wall. There were gates you  could go through. But it helped keep the contact down

It was going to be pulled down after a generation but no one seems in a hurry to

It’s now a place of hope that the troubles never happen again.

Here I am writing on the wall

The troubles lasted 30 years. This year peace has lasted 25 years.
Hopefully it lasts forever

One of the gates through the wall

We also stopped at the queen’s university

Then we headed off to the docks to drive onto a ferry to take us over to Scotland

It was a wonderful crossing. Smooth sailing

We are now at our hotel and have a free night to relax.
We are all pretty tired.

Since I’ve been to Glasgow before I know all about this bridge.
And this is the view from my window
The squinty bridge.

Dinner tonight is downstairs in the hotel and then I’ll be back in my room early

I need to recoup and recharge for the final week of the tour

Giants causeway. Titanic exhibition and Belfast

Today we started our huge day at the giants causeway.
A place I’ve wanted to visit since seeing a picture of it when I was a little girl

We then headed off to Belfast where we are staying Tonight.

We had some time to grab lunch and a wander before our booking to see the titanic exhibition

While wandering around we came across the memorial

Off we went to see the exhibition. What an emotional experience

After checking into our rooms, our bag were already
In the rooms waiting.

We headed off for fish and chips.
A walking tour of Belfast that ended in a pub
Where we all had a drink

Home now. Exhausted.
But a sleep in tonight. And tomorrow we say goodbye to Ireland and hello Scotland

A full day
