Busy

This week has been very busy so far.

Monday was scans on my left shoulder this time.

Once out of the house I quickly ran into the big reject shop and got some cleaning

Supplies.

Then I headed home as I was having the girls for a few hours while their parents

Went to the daycare for a parents information night.

Poor little Georgia is teething again and was a bit unsettled.

Grandpa kept her busy and he eventually got her to sleep.

Here she is trying to find anything in the cup holders

Obviously there wasn’t anything and she looked at her grandpa with such a look of disappointment that I laughed

Tuesday we had to head into the city to see the financial advisors

We are starting to think about what will happen when hubby retires

Plans were discussed and alternatives for different scenarios.

They did say we had good options and that we are in a good place for our age

That did take a lot of worry off my shoulders

Even though I didn’t drive, last night the sciatica pain was really bad

Between being in the car and walking up and down stairs, I had aggravated it

Thankfully after a good nights sleep, I was feeling much better.

So I had a plan

First I had to get me some bricks, logs or anything heavy

I needed it to hold down some cardboard

I started to turn this into this

That was tiring enough. Then I hauled them over to the vegetable garden

That was all I could manage.  It’s a start

I have lots of brown paper bags and we will use those to cover all the spaces.

I asked Wonderson to pull the front hose out of its container.  It’s one of those that once your done

It will automatically reel it back in.  All you have to do is give it a gentle tug.

Pulling it out is hard work on your back and shoulders , so I get someone to pull it out for me

After watering all the plants under the front porch, I left it as it was so hubby can get it to roll up again

So now I’m inside sitting and resting

I’ve been sewing those squares into a blanket.

I’ve got all the strips sewn and now I’m sewing them all together

The big reveal will hopefully be in the next few days

So now your all caught up with my not so exciting life

Just normal everyday events

  1. Good use of cardboard. I put some really big boxes under my no dig beds last year and my plants didn't thrive. I discovered later that a couple of the really colourful ones had a thin layer of plastic on the outside and it has taken me ages to recover all the plastic pollution from my garden. I'm really careful to use plain cardboard now. (under paths I'm less particular). Go easy on your pains - and good luck with the retirement planning.

    1. None of these had the plastic.
Well it didn’t feel like it. Most are Amazon boxes.

  2. There was something called Lasagna gardening back in the day that used a lot of cardboard. I agree a good use for it. We had our annual "check-up" at the bank yesterday to see where we are. I started planning for hubby's retirement around ten years before he actually retired. It truly helped. I should do a post about it, as he has now been retired for two years.

  4. You're so young! My son's age. Never too soon to plan, but it's surprising me to hear you're thinking ahead to retirement. I expect your husband won't be sorry, after many years of physical exertion, though.

    1. He is just as broken as I am. And he’s sixty five. The age most people start thinking of retirement.
And I’m a planner it makes me feel better knowing what’s ahead

    Hope you're feeling ok.
