Getting things done

this morning hubby drove me to the doctors to get a fasting blood test

There were quite a few tests she asked for so they took two vials full.

Then a urine test was asked for, so she gave me the little plastic jar and sent me off in my way.

Once I had been totally bled of all liquids I left.

I had scripts to drop off at my pharmacy

Home again after that I turned in the radio in the kitchen and went to work.

There were plums that were very ripe so they were pitted and cut up. I also had half a tub of blackberries that had been pushed to the back and forgotten. They were added to the plums.

We had the last of the oranges from our tree and some mandarins. They were all cut up as well

They’re now in the freezer for future use. I didn’t get the seeds out of the citrus because I figured that when I defrost them they’ll be squishy and easier to de pip.

I then tackled a bag of peppers from the market garden across the road. I cleaned and cut them up. I had half an onion so that got sliced.

Some tomatoes that had ripened too much for salads or sandwiches, so they were put in also

I went into the freezer to get the last of the leek and cherry tomatoes to add as well.

It’s all cooked up and ready to eat. It’s a great side dish to steak or any BBQ. Plus I’ll freeze some for in the slow cooker to use during winter.

I then turned to the excess of eggs. I got some silverbeet from the garden. The last packet of feta cheese and the eggs to make my version of spinach pie

My eggs. They look like peaches in syrup lol

I ended up using 20 eggs in just one pie

I’ve messaged the boys telling them it’s ready to eat.

Finally I’ve organised my crafting corner.

I purchased a coffee table with a lift up top

Once closed all my craft paraphernalia is hidden. Making it look neater. Not to mention little people won’t be able to get at it.

Georgia won’t stay a baby for very long. So I’m getting ahead  start with the baby proofing

I also have a basket to store the actual WIP’s I’m working on. It will be easy to pick up the whole basket and put it up out of reach

As you can just see, Trixies bed with her toys are just visible in the left corner.

This too will once again be moved when we have a mobile baby.

It’s now one in the afternoon and I’m very tired.

I went to bed last night after midnight. I was staying up to see this

You could actually see it with the naked eye. Not this brilliantly unfortunately but once it was viewed through the phone, magical

We have been so lucky to have seen so many Auroras. It’s been one good view every year for the last three years

I still would love to see the northern lights one  day, but for now I’m just happy to have seen this.

Right now, life is good in the nest

Forgotten treasures

I am please to say hubby had a good nights sleep and has woken up happy.

You really cannot sleep in hospital

Me? Well my sewing machine was being all kinds of mean. So i goggled different videos and went through every. From scratch. Elna 101.

I have used it and I seem to have “ fixed” the problem. I did ring a sewing machine mechanic and he gave me some advice.

If it continues to be a bugger it will be taken to the machine hospital to get looked at

While I was doing all that, I had to look for a foot on the sewing machine. I thought I was short one. So I pull out the old bag I used to carry it to class. I looked in every pocket no luck.

But I did find this

Squares I’ve quilted to make a quilt as you go blanket

I must of stored them in there when we had to pull down the old room and rebuild it again

Knowing me, I probably thought that the next time I go to put the machine in there I would find them

Obviously I’ve not used the bag

There was also more fabric to use

Also, the other day I was collecting quilts to be taken to the farm house and I found this

I had started it to use up my odd balls and then totally forget about w

I’ve added a dozen rows to it in the last few days. It was a nice change from sewing. A bit of a holiday

As for the EPP it’s coming along slowly but surely

Now I have plenty to get on with.

Should keep me out of trouble for a few weeks anyway

Finally

well the prisoner had been released. He was so eager to come home he waited out front for us

My lovely friends once again picked me up and drove to the hospital to pick him up.

I really do have the best friends

He has come home with a bag full of medical supplies so I can clean and change the bandages

He also has boxes of antibiotics to keep taking.

If he is good and listens to all medical advice he should be alright.

My work has now commenced.

Lord help me.

Current news

hubby is staying another 24 hours in the hospital

He is in extreme pain. He isn’t one to complain and never suffers from man flu, so if he says his in pain it will be really bad. The have heavily sedated him for now.

Please keep him in your thoughts. Up until now I’ve not been worried but I am now

Update

sorry no pictures today. Just information

Hubby rang to say the surgeon had visited. She told him the  spur had gone in so far it had hit the knuckle bone.

She also informed him that she is very confident that it’s all clean and that it shouldn’t get an infection.

Still she wanted him to stay the extra night.

Side note:

When explaining what had happened to the various doctors who initially talked to him. Apparently there were five!

Not one of them knew what a spur was.

They all pulled their phones out and googled it.

Hubby then pointed out where the offending appendage was.

It just goes to show. No matter who you are or how educated you may be. There is always something you can bring to the table and pass on  knowledge to others.

Hopefully I can spring him tomorrow and he can come home

Roo rage

This is our rooster. Hubby rescued him from a batch of hens that were delivered to an egg farm

He was a lovely little fellow, until his hormones hit

He is constantly trying to kill us. And no. I’m not being dramatic

I will not go near him. Hubby has been doing all chicken related chores

Yesterday, while I was out at the doctors

This roo flew up and got hubby on his hand. He was filling the feed container for them.

Apparently it hurt. Lots.

His hand then blew up. Now when ever he gets hurt I have to drag him kicking and screaming to the doctors

But not this time.

The doctor looked at his hand, heard the story, and sent him off to the hospital. He went to our nearest one, Casey. But they weren’t able to deal with it, so he was sent to Dandy hospital

They took one look at his hand, heard the story and admitted him

I have been to see him this morning, my lovely friends drove me because going there would have given me a massive anxiety attack.

While we were there they took him into surgery.

They will open it up, give it a good clean and put him on IV antibiotics

He will be there for another two days. If there isn’t any sign of infection he will be let out.

But

If there is they might have to get him back into surgery to give it another clean

I will continue to update everyone.

Chicken are definitely the great grandchildren of dinosaurs because this one thinks he’s huge and mighty

Oh and to answer everyone’s question

No hubby doesn’t want to “ dispatch’ the criminal.

Moving

no we aren’t moving. But some friends are. We spent Sunday helping them move out of their home. They want to down size

Helping was basically putting boxes into a van to transport it all to where it will be stored until they find a place

They’re going away for six weeks. So they’re not looking right now. They will stay with one of their children until they find what they like

They have stored everything in  shipping container  those things can hold heaps

Because they ate down sizing they wanted to get rid of a few things.

They had a spare bed and a two seater sofa.

They gifted them to us. They’re really lovely like that

And today the hubby came with us to put them into the small house at the farm

It’s already made it feel more like home.

We still have a second bedroom that needed a bed

I got on Facebook marketplace and found one 15 minutes away for only $100.00

I contacted the seller and we have gone and purchased it

Here is the mattress ready to go into the trailer.

If only I knew. We would have put off taking the other things until tomorrow.

Not that it matters. We will store it until we can take it down.

While at the farm we could see and smell the smoke from the bushfires

They are far enough away that we are not in imminent danger, but close enough that given the right conditions they could easily move them into our area.

As we don’t live there, the only things we could lose are things  things can be replaced  unfortunately there are many families living in the area. hopefully the fires won’t spread but if they do, they gets lots of warning and are able to evacuate

It’s a scary time in our state of Victoria  we have lots of bush areas  once fires take hold they are very hard to get under control

Please send lots of love and prayers we need all the help we can get

A day with Anastasia

even though mummy and daddy were home we still have grandma day.

She knows it’s four days day care and then grandma

It was extremely hot outside so it was definitely a stay indoors day

She arrived later than usual, we all had sleep ins.

So by the time she got here it was morning tea time

Fruit and vegetables all cut and easy to eat

Here they are watching television  Ana was patting Trixie because she had a little incident that made her yelp

She was so gentle and showed more empathy than some adults I could name

We did some cut and paste

We jumped on grandpa

And we also had a science experiment

I had been searching how to grow crystals and got all the items we needed ready

It looks like something is happening. I told Ana that tomorrow I’ll take a photo and send it to her mummy so she can see the progress.

We found this bonnet while I was searching for the borax, I put it somewhere safe so if course I couldn’t find it straight away

I told her I made it for her when she was a baby  she wanted to try it on

I then found the old photo and showed it to her

Still a cutie.

Ana saw my patch work and wanted to see it

We played I spy and had fun finding all the hidden pictures

When mummy and daddy arrived to pick her up, we decided to have dinner together before they left

That way grandma got lots of Georgia cuddles

They have now gone home

Everything has been put away and the lounge room is clean.

Next Friday will be the first Friday I have both the girls

It’s a trial run while mummy is still home.

I can ring for support if I get “stuck”

I’m pretty confident that I’ll be ok.

Well that’s the plan anyway

Hot hot hot

today summer decided to come all in one day!

Expected to of 42

I converted it using google. That math problem is just to hard for me to work out

So this morning I got up and jumped into action

I’ve watered  all the pots out front

Everyone has received their breakfast

And cool fresh water has berm supplied

This is what greeted me while I was giving them fresh water. I grabbed a new water container and filled it right by the back fence. This was it will stay in the shade all day

The chickens got a bag of ice in a shallow container. They can sit around it and drink the cold water. This will help keep them cool. The trees shade them during the afternoon when it’s the hottest so they will be ok.

And finally an extra tub of water with the bag of ice. They all drink from this tub. Cats and dogs. Even Trixie, and there is water inside for her and Bella. The two that come in. Teddy and  Agatha seem to just want to be outside

The difference between pure breeds and cross breeds. One likes pampering the other roughing it in the wild

Now I’m back inside. All blinds that are on the east side are down. It makes a huge difference

Later after the sun is in the west the front blinds will go down.

We are constantly getting an extreme weather warnings on our phones.

We are all worried about bush fires

I hope and pray people are extra vigilant so that if one does break out, it will be attended to straight away.

Before it gets out of control

The end.

Suddenly it feels so empty in here.

Trees have been packed away for another year.

All that’s left is the front door wreath.

Hubby has gone to the farm to fix fences. Literal fences not metaphorically ones

Me I’ve finished vacuuming all the debris.

I did an Aldi shop on door dash

And now I’m finally sitting. Watching movies and sewing.

Enjoying the quiet solitude

One on one

today Georgia stayed with grandma and grandpa.

Mummy and daddy took Ana to bowling.

Some alone time for her

Meanwhile Georgia had some one on one time too

We played

Grandpa feeding her mid afternoon meal

Then grandma changed her nappy, burped her and she went to sleep

I had her sleeping next to me on the couch so I could keep an eye on her.

Little clever clogs can now roll.

Won’t be long before she’s chasing the other three around

Another year gone

no. Not Christmas.

Lots more got packed away today

All that’s left is the Christmas trees and wreath

It all looks so sad now. But the room is suddenly so much bigger.

No the year that’s gone is my 59th year around the sun

I know it’s a cliche, but I honestly have no idea where that time has gone.

I’m blessed to still be here. To watch my grandchildren grow. Every year I’m here. The stronger their memories of me will be.

So live, laugh, and love. That’s my plan anyway
