Sad day

This little girl didn’t make it
She must of been down longer than we though
She had started eating. But her back legs lost circulation while she had been down and she couldn’t stand
We even tried some physical therapy
But she just didn’t get better
She died quietly in hubby’s arms
We are devastated
The farmer life is one full of heartbreak

Prep work

I was telling hubby yesterday, while we were packing all the things from our old van into the new one, that
I wanted to scotchguard the chairs
That way they are easier to clean and as this van is primarily on off road camper. It’s going to get grimy with the Australian outback dust
Well as luck would have it. Aldi had these for sale today!
How’s that for manifestation excellence!
So I got myself some cans and have given the cushions a first coat
It says two light coats are better than one heavy coat
So in a few hours I’ll go out and reapply
I did get a few spare cans. So I’ll be able to do it again in a few weeks. Just to make sure I’ve got it covered
Gotta love Aldi! They always have what I want, pretty much when I want it lol

A close call

Yesterday we noticed this little girl not looking well
Hubby brought her into our small pen and hoped a nice warm night would help.
It didn’t. She looked terrible this morning and her tummy was very bloated
So we massaged and put her on this log. A little pressure and boy did her tummy start making some noise!
Once the shops open I’ll go get some yoghurt for her but after half an hour here she is looking so much better she has lifted her head and started chewing sticks
So I guess she will stay with amara now so we can keep a. Eye on her.
Now we need a name
Any ideas?

A lovely afternoon

I was feeling a little blue. So hubby took me out for a drive. I wNted to be near the water and I was craving some fish and chips.
During ng our drive we ended up at Arthur’s seat and it had a scenic ride
So we decided why not

These are some of the views
Spectacular

It didn’t last long. Just long enough for you to see everything and before you got panicked about being high up with only one hook holding you up. It was over
So I wasn’t feel blue any more
Isn’t he a nice hubby?
We won’t tell him. He might get a big head lol

Spring

Just a little of what’s happening in the garden
Lost of growth
Lost of bulbs coming up and seeds germinating
Lots of fruit starting to form
Exciting times
Now for the weather to catch on. That would be nice

A big weekend

Mum and dad had to go to uncle joshs wedding. He married Aunty jade
But I couldn’t go. I was too little so I stayed at grandmas house
I helped her with all the farm animals
And helped her keep the cats in line
And we played with the babies
I did get grandma up on both nights. But she loves me so much, she didn’t mind
So now I’m at home and grandma misses me
Luckily I’m visiting again on Tuesday. She would be lost without me

Strange place for a nest

For the last few weeks. Everytime I hang washing under the back porch I get this
It’s a willy wag tail nest
Determined little buggers
I’ve destroyed at least eight of them.
Oh well. You keep trying and I’ll keep pulling them down
Have you had strange nesting at your place?

A little piece of the past

Hubby built this many years ago for the kids.
They had so much fun and it  even used to have a sand pit
But over the years it has deteriorated and it was no longer safe
So it had to go

And slowly the past was being dismantled
And it was kinda sad
But now we have lots of room
My herb garden will go as well. I’ve transplanted the herbs and I’ll get a new garden box
Which will go in a better place and we will have lots of room to run and play
Grandma can breath a sigh of relief now
If it’s not there. It’s not an issue.
Much better. Don’t you think?

Silly me

With all this lovely sunshine
I’ve been outside working away
And I’ve been back on my Fitbit so keeping up my steps
And logging my food
And ive been really really good
But I’ve overdone
They really should have a section for those with chronic illness
So last night I was in agony
Melody will be here this morning
So I do have to get up and  moving
But I think we will do some drawing and watching TV
Granny is really not well enough for energetic playing
Really must learn to pace myself
How are you all doing?

Done! I think?

The second garden bed
All done
For now

I’ve repaired the damage done by the environment and the rabbits.
Just got to hope it doesn’t get damaged again
How’s your spring, autumn garden going?

Now to break the news to hubby lol

That will fix them......

I got myself some azaleas for my front gardens. But still waging that war with the rabbits. I thought
Well I put them in pots and place those in the garden
That way when they are bigger I an transplant them into the ground and put wire around them and they will still look good
Well that’s what I hope.
Fingers crossed.
It’s lovely outside
I just want to stand in the sun and bake my bones
Have a great weekend

Finally done

Remember the seedlings from a few posts ago.
Here are all the empty packets
So many seedlings

Had to repost a few of these. Those icy winds did a number on them
It was very sad

But now they are all happy again.
They have new life in them

I also planted into existing pots that had some plants in them. Just so I can use them up
But in the end I still had heaps to plant out in the garden bed
Did two sides in this one. And a side in the second one
Let’s hope the rabbits don’t get them all
I’m pooped.
Now. To watch them all grow!

Going potty

We finished planting all the vegetable seedlings yesterday.
So today I started on the flowers
My hanging baskets had succumbed to the frosts and extreme cold so this was the perfect way to freshen them up

The Bougainville did not like the cold frosty weather
So I pulled out the dead and mixed the potting mix with fresh stuff and replaced with the annuals
Turing this
Into this
In a few short weeks we should have masses of pretty flowers
I hope.
It’s a very grey day out there. So after finishing out the back I moved everything to the front.
I’ll rest a little while and start on the pots there.
I did about ten pots out the back and have hardly put a dent in the amount of plants I have
So whatever doesn’t fit into the pots will get put in the ground
Let’s hope the rabbits have finished their excavation of my garden beds.
But that’s another post

Daylight savings time

Daylight savings has started on the east coast of Australia
And as the day was kinda nice, mostly,
Hubby and I spent it outside doing much needed work
Here I have my recycled flower gardens. They were totally overgrown with bulbs.
One lot particularly had just gone nuts
So we pulled it all out separated it all. Weeded and kept the best bulbs and replanted them with fresh potting mix.

A friend who works in the nursery industry brough me lots of seedlings.
As my herb garden is falling apart,  it's in an old crate, I planted the paresly and sweet basil in with the ballerina apples
I also transplanted some of my oregano into the  third one
Weeded the vegetables and planted more seedlings. Yup she gave me lots!
Capsicum, beetroot and a couple of truss tomatoes in this one
Spring onions in this one and I've also planted bush beans and purple bush beans. Also three zucchini seeds. If they don't take I'll get some later. But I thought I'd take the chance. I had the seeds
Beetroot in this one and chard. Some from before and more seedling
Two more tomato plants
Extra spring onions to take up all the space

Here hubby is resting after a big day of work and being attacked by the fur family lol

The chickens were too busy to play. Lots of bugs to catch
So a huge dent made in the list of things to do.
Still have seedlings but all that's left are the flowering plants. I'll replant all the pots that I lost due to severe frosts and extreme  cold
So now we are resting.
Getting on in years means we just can't do it all in one day anymore
How has your weekend been
