Blessed Beltane

To all my friends in the southern hemisphere. Have a blessed Beltane may your harvests be bountiful and the mother bless you.

And to all in the northern hemisphere may you have a happy Halloween

A sad day

Today i had to admit thwt I was not coping with the constant care of the babies. Lack of sleep and not being able to take any meds when I needed them left me in pain, exhausted and very emotional
So I made the hardest decision to ask Julie to take the kittens back.
She was wonderful and did not make me feel any worse than I already did. She was happy to take them back and continue hand rearing them.
They are three weeks old today and will be eating and pooping all on their own soon. They had such beautiful personalities and stole my heart.
The little ginger boy was the smaller of the two and he would just stare into your eyes and melt your heart.
The bigger was the little girl and she was always hungry for her bottle and then would crawl onto your lap and purr.
Here she is trying to get into my Basket full of granny squares.
when I got her out she then tried to work out how to get onto my lap from all the way over there.
I know I will miss them and I really wish I could of kept them but I know I can't. Even bella would mother them and wash them while I was feeding. They loved bella and would follow her, but she was way to quick and would get away once she had,had enough.
So now they are over the road and I know they will be well cared for, and the right homes will be found for them when the time is right.
But they will always have a place in my heart

Bonnie

Meet bonnie, my new baby.  She is slightly bigger than Alice my old car and she is BLUE!
I wanted a blue BMW when I got Alice but my only option was silver. We buy new but we go for demo models as you can get them for the normal price of a new car but you get heaps of optional extras you don't have to pay for.
Both Alice and bonnie were like that. So this time I lucked out and I got the blue I wanted.
She's very pretty and fun to drive.
Alice I loved so much, and now she has gone to live with my baby girl. So she is still in the family.
What do you think?
Can you see me driving her?

Granny squares

I always loved these granny square blankies but I was never sure how to join them. I didn't want to just sew them together as I didn't want seems. So I youtubed and got the answer I needed. Now I have been joining these for a couple of years as I put it away and forgot about it, but I'm back in the swing and now I have forty squares joined, with only another sixty to go!
and of course there is always that helping hand, pain in the neck, helping me. There is no show without punch is there.

Watching

I've been watching big love on the Internet. I watched a few episode when it was on tv but it was on late and they kept changing the times it was on so I missed a lot of it.
But what I saw I liked so when I found it on the net I started watching from the first episode.
I'm half way through the second series and I really do love it
It's a story about a polygamy family and how they deal with living in a world where their lifestyle is agains the law
It really does deal with every aspect of family relationships and even with ones most of us will never deal with. It's a really well written series that I recommend to anyone.
For those that watch once upon a time there is a young snow as one of the wives.

What's keeping me up

These five day old kittens, that's what. They are so cute. The last two of a littler of five. I lost three which were very small and very sick. Mum did not want to look after them any more.
How did I get them, well my wonderful neighbour runs an animal rescue across the road and she already has her hands full looking after orphan puppies, so I took on these.
It's heartbreaking when you lose one. But you keep going hoping that these will grow and find loving homes
above is the smaller of the two, his a dear little fellow. He is slowly drinking more milk and I get very excited when he does a good wee. Moths why are we so obsessed with what comes out. Lol
And this cubby baby is the little girl. She is eating lots and going. Great guns. She has even started purring and absolutely loves to cuddle.
So now you know what I have been up too. I'm very tired but also very happy that at least these two look like they are going to make it.
See (yawn) ya!

More coasters

I think I have another one or two sets to make and I'm done. It's getting harder as I'm running out of scraps. So I'm really stretching the old grey matter.
I've also been commissioned to knit a baby girls jacket and booties so I have also spent time doing that. While knitting thinking of what ways I can use what's left in my scrap pile without resorting to cutting up the bigger pieces. I want to leave them for other uses.
What do you think of my creations so far, not too shabby me things,

Eleven weeks till Christmas.

I was told via Facebook that its it's only eleven weeks till Christmas and I panicked.
So I put my thinking cap on and was thinking what am I going to get everyone. I don't want to spend a lot of money as I have two major events to save for next year.
More on that later
So I started pulling out all my scraps and bits and bobs and started working.
I found some off cuts from a quilt I made about three years ago
added some boarders.

Got some off cuts of wading and the backing from the candle wicking quilt I made about four years ago.
did some binding and viola I have made two sets of four coasters.
this is another set from a quilt I made to give to my aunt in Greece when I visited. I have also finished another one and half sets before quitting for the day. I'll post photos of the next lot on my next post.
I will give a set of coasters and two coffee cups as a christmas gift to each couple. Like my mum and dad, my sister and her hubby and for each other couple
If I get the coffee cups from the reject shop you can pick up some nice ones for $2 - $5 dollars.
That means each couple will only cost $10.00.
I hope they like them, I have had fun designing each set with what I have.
Will post more pics tomorrow

Fencing

What timers it when and elephant sits on your fence?
Time to get a new fence!

Well an elephant didn't sit on my fence but after almost 20 years we need a new one.
We have been waiting for the ground to dry as it has been very wet and with the warmer weather
Here don has rung his fencing mate.
Hopefully we will get that new fence soon, but as with mates and their cheaper for you rates we will have to wait until he isn't too busy.
But that's ok, it's been like that for a few years, only not that gaping hole!
The dogs love it as they can go and check out the stock and come back. Teddy goes to the front and gets my shoe and brings it back to chew while in bed. Grrrrr it's always my shoe!
So as you can see id like it done sooner rather than later.

Abundance

We have been busy here, collecting the abundance of our produce. While away the garden must of loved the weather as it was ready to harvest when we came back.
Over the weekend we collected cabbage, broccoli, coli, beet roots, and leaks.
The chickens have been going gang busters too, so cooking them up and giving away four dozen yesterday has made room for the next load to come in.
I'm not complaining, I'm very excited. It's getting my eager to get some new summer seedlings into the ground.
Yes the warmer weather is here now, I wonder how long it will last.

A slight detour

While driving along hubby spotted a sign saying princess Margaret rose cave 13 kilometres next turn left.
He looks at me and says should we go? I figure sure why not!
So we detour and found a beautiful place with an amazing cave. The limestone cave system had some awesome calcite structures. The first one is called the wedding cake and is about 8 feet tall. The second one is called the chandelier and has taken hundreds of years to form.
so if ever you see a detour, consider taking it, you never know what you will find. For my fellow Aussies google this place it's on the boarder of Victoria and south Australia and it really is a gem.

Apollo bay

A better nights sleep last nigh than the one before. We decided to put the tent up again and boy was that a bad call. We had the worst storms in thirty years. I spent the whole night listening to the tent and quick shade getting blown around. But I'm amazed that neither was blown away.
So as the weather man said we were getting more of the same we again opted for a room. And boy am I glad we did. I woke during the night and I could hear it blowing outside. So today we will start the last leg home and I will be able to upload some of the photos I took with my camera. I will start to post them soon after.
If your ever able to do  the great ocean road drive. Amazing sights to see. Even with the weather being so blowy it was fantastic to see things I have read about all my life. We will do it again with my big van and during better weather.
