The last of the autumn sunshine

The sun was shining today and it wasn’t too windy so I decided I’d tackle the roses
They bite so I always have to work myself up
So I turned this

Into this
Also weeded as we went along
It definitely needs a new layer of mulch

Meanwhile hubby weeded the veggie gardens.
The first garden is going fantastic and I’ve been harvesting greens for our dinner now for over a week

The second planting. The plantings of leek have disappeared
I think birds scratching for bugs either ate them or just dig them out and they died.
I might try again if the seedlings are much bigger.
There was such a rush on veggie seedling they were selling them very small

The first batch of the broccoli is ready for harvesting

The cabbage is coming along soon will be ready

The camellias are all still alive and doing well
There is even new growth so that’s a good sign

A bowl of mixed greens
There’s is the broccoli, kale, silverbeet and some beetroot leaves
I’ll blanch them and make them into a kind of warm salad

So that was our day today
It all took longer than it used too and I even had hubby to help me
But I guess I just need to admit defeat and listen to my body and do it as I can

Hope your all safe and well

So decided to start the process of making the dough for the boys lunch
Got the rising happening in front of the fire

Experiment baking

I’ve started back on my ketosis diet.
Not really a diet. Just the way I will eat.
I went off it while in iso because it was just easier, or so I thought

I started to gain weight
And I have a nagging feeling I have more pain and inflammation when I eat carbs
Not a scientific explanation but just how my body reacts

I know since I started to eat this way again the swelling in my hands has subsided
And the weight is slowly moving down again

But I really missed bread
So I found a recipe for keto bread and today I made some

It looks like bread and sounds like it when tapped to see if it’s cooked
And it slices nicely as well.
The eggs I used were from a local egg farm and a few of them were double yolks
So it smells eggy but it didn’t taste like eggs so that’s ok

I didn’t have almond flour. Just almond meal so I used that
And I didn’t have the Xanthan gum
But it has stayed together well

I sliced it still warm and had it with butter. Yummmmm
It freezes well so I’ll freeze some and keep some in the fridge for me to eat over the next few days

Here is the recipe I used.
I got it from the net
If you give it a try.  Post it and let us all know how it turned out

The sun is shining today although it’s been wet and cold
The craft room is progressing
I’ll post about that in the next day or two
Hope your all well and safe

The week that was

Happy Friday everyone.
What a week we have had
I’ve been and got my results of my scans I have a bulging disc, fractures in the spinal bones and nerve damage
And they have been there for a while
I knew this already but it’s nice the doctors now know
So a care plan in now in place and we will do what we can to bring my pain levels down

It will all get much better once pools open and I can swim daily again

Mean while
Hubby had an accident and has broken some ribs
So we are both hobbling around like two old cripples right now
Feeling very sore and sorry for ourselves
But as always we will survive it’s going to be a hard few weeks I guess

On other news fronts
My roof is going on my craft room as I type
Hopefully it will get done before the next lot of rain

Still working on those baby blankets for charity number six is almost finished
Pink diamonds I really like this pattern. Not hard at all and I can listen to my audiobooks
While I crochet

Just finished book one of the Belgariad and about to start book two.
Love these books and can read or listen to them read time and time again

Today I made more soup and a rosemary focaccia to go with it
The rosemary is from my garden. I love when I can use ingredients
That are home grown always taste better I think

That’s the latest news from the nest
The weekend looks promising. The rains have stopped for now
We won’t be doing anything strenuous just resting and recovering
But you never know what the days will bring
Enjoy your weekend
Stay safe and well
See ya x

Current news

Currently we have the bones of a new craft room
It’s getting exciting now. We can see it taking shape
There have been some modifications which will reveal themselves as we continue the build

The underlay is dry.
The really soaked stuff was taken out
It will be replaced and carpet laid properly when the carpet man comes to do the craft room
But for now it’s fine and I can use this room again
Which is great as it’s cold and wet again this weekend

Not being able to swim or have my therapeutic massages for a few months now my back is
The worst it’s ever been.
I’ve had to resort to using a Cain as my legs give was while walking and I fall
If I have to use a cane I think I nice bright pink one is the go.

Hubby has been very busy at work all week
And as I’ve been totally useless all week the new plants haven’t been planted yet.
So this morning hubby is taking charge and planting in the rain
He says it’s actually pleasant and it’s making the digging easier
I feel bad. But I just can’t help it.

I think they are going to look stunning once they all grow and flower
It will really brighten the yard
Notice the swing set. I got it from a friend. She was getting rid of it as her grandchildren
Have outgrown it.
So now my grandkids will be able to use it
It has a slide too. But we will keep in storage  for now. As it’s pretty high
Give them a couple of years to grow a little more before bringing it out

So that’s been my week
I’ve not done much. Even crocheting has been slow as I can’t sit for long without pain
So I’ve just been walking slowly annoying the boys both working on the room and working at the shed lol
Hopefully I’ll be back to my normal soon
Stay safe and well
See ya xxx

My weekend

It was a lovely weekend of rain, wind and bitter cold here at the empty nest
So I finished off four baby blankets
All the white is gone now except for half a ball.
Starting on the pink sparkly yarn now

Decided to walk to a friends house for an iso coffee and got hubby to pick me up
Not a bad walk.
I was hoping it would help ease the back.
Didn’t, but at least I had burnt off some calories

A couple of the locals I met along the way

Yesterday bought ten Camilla plants.
Will plant them along the fence in the back yard

How did your iso weekend go
Stay safe and well
See ya xxx
