Quiet

Ana had a great sleep with grandma, grandpa and Trixie lol

Yup four in the bed!

She fell asleep cuddling into me while watching monsters inc.

I carried her to bed and got in myself. Hubby and Trixie a little while later

Waking up at 7.30. A very civilised time in my opinion, our day began

Annie is very talkative in the morning. She was chatting away, following me as I fed the menagerie

I asked her what she wanted for breakfast and chose on of the cereals I had. Pretty much the quietest she was all morning

While out back she decided to sweat for grandma

All the mulching was swept back clearing the path

Once we had brushed our teeth she asked if we could make trixie cookies.

I have a cookie cutter in the shape of a poodle

I measured and she added to the bowl mixing ever time we added another ingredient. Until it got to hard. Grandma took over then

She wanted to roll the dough

Cookies before going into the oven

While they cooked. And grandma cleaned she sat with grandpa and watched paw patrol.

Daddy arrived to pick  her up. She took her cookies home with her.

Now grandma is resting ready to do it all again next week

Full on Friday

the girls arrived this morning and once again I was set up and ready

The day started really well

Ana was being a great helper, keeping Georgia entertained

Very soon it was milk time. I defrosted and heated the milk. I use hot water from the tap to do this. I’m old fashioned and I can monitor the heat level easily

With trepidation I sat to feed and joy of joys. It was all good. In fact she wouldn’t let me take the bottle once it was finished, she really wanted more.

So I gave her more.

I changed her, burped her and she went off to sleep

This was pretty much the system for the day.

She even had a whole pouch of pear and apricot purée over two feeds.

Georgia slept really well, although she did fight to go to sleep. But this isn’t grandma’s first rodeo and I won each time

Grandpa arrived after lunch and was able to spend time with Georgia while I organised, cleaned and packed stuff away.

Ana was watching Gabbys dollhouse and Georgia really got into it

She had another sleep woke and I gave her the last of the milk

But she wanted more.

She had drunk the bar dry.

I called daddy and he brought more over when he arrived to pick her up.

We all had fish and chips for dinner before daddy and Georgia went home. Mummy is at a wedding so daddy is looking after Georgia at home while Ana gets a sleepover at grandmas

Right now Ana is snuggling next to me while I’m typing. She really missed all the alone time today.

It’s nice to have one on one time at this stage.

I’ve told her she can watch one Disney movie and then we will go to bed.

As she’s yawning she agreed with that plan.

Anxiety and panic attacks

I finished sorting through all my clothes.

It doesn’t look it. But there is ample space now.

The clothes aren’t all pushed against one another and it’s easy to rifle through to find what your looking for

While working in this I was waiting for my shopping from woolies to arrive

It was here before I had finished.

I use the door dash app and they’re very good at keeping you updated and are very prompt.

I’m very had shoppers ring and ask if I would accept a product because the one I ordered wasn’t available

This had been great for me.

I’ve always been a homebody and during the early years of marriage had to be. Fuel prices were high, so I would only go into town once a week. Do everything I needed and then back home.

I’ve never been confident driving too far from home. Basically because I was prevented from doing so

My parents were very strict and I pretty much never left home alone I think this has been a big part of my lack of confidence

I wasn’t able to build it in my formative years

As I got older it slowly got worse.

It hasn’t helped that I’ve been hit from behind three times in the last seven years.

It also doesn’t help that I have begun to get lost. Even going to my parents house, which I lived in, I got lost three times last year.

I have been known to ring hubby in years because I can’t remember how to get home

It’s not frequent but enough to make me nervous

My friends know this and will always pick me up when we go out together.

And was why they drove me to the hospital to visit and pick up hubby

So being able to do my shopping on line had made me a much happier and not as anxious all the time.

It’s actually one of the reasons I stopped going to the pool. Between all the road works, detour signs and driving in the dark, I’d start to get anxious the night before

I know I’m being silly but I honestly can’t help it.

Last week I left the house just one day. To the post office which is across the highway from me and to the pharmacy, which is a 5-10 minute drive down the highway.

Short simple drives.

At least being an  anxious person prone to panic attacks is much easier in the time of internet shopping. I don’t know how I would of been if I didn’t have that

Today’s doings

today I had been inspired by a couple of fellow bloggers.

I had all the fixings to made some granola bars

I added chocolate on top and the boys have already made a dent of the large pile. They had too the lid wouldn’t close on the container

As the oven was going to be used I decided to make the most of it.

Next in bread

I forgot to slash the top and it’s a bit of a funny  shape, because of the brown paper I had lined the Dutch oven with

I also made made a pasta bake. Using the leftovers of the pasta I made the other day

I have also started to sort my wardrobe.

I’ve  lost weight and have gone down a dress size.

All old , too big, clothes have been put into a pile to be used as cleaning rags at the shed. They’re not good enough for donations

All, not so old , clothes have been kept as they’re still great for wearing around the house.

I have finished one part of the wardrobe and will tackle the next tomorrow

And now I’m trying to crochet but Trixie has other ideas

She likes it when I finally sit

Jobs getting done

This is the perfect picture for how I feel

I’ve cleaned all the cobwebs from the back veranda.

Swept all the leaves that the gale force winds had deposited

Washed all of Teddy’s bedding. It’s dry now all i have to do is put it all back

Dragged the hose around watering all pots under the front veranda.

As well the normal daily chores

Finally after all that I had a nice cool shower

That pretty much finished me off.

All fibro warriors know that showering uses up lots of our energy.

It’s still really hot outside. My neighbour gave me some herbs to plant. He’s a lovely man. All our neighbours are

I’ll let it cool a tad before I go out to plant them out.

Crafting is continuing.

I’ve cut the scraps I found the other day, into 3 inch squares

I’ve pined some to my hexi papers and cut off the corners to make the hexi shape. I’ve even started to sew some, adding to the pile ready to sew

When I get sick of that I change back to the crochet.

That blanket is getting much bigger now.

I think 2026 is the year of finishing off WIP’s and busting my stash.

That a good thing indeed

Day one

after all the carfuffle of last week we finally arrived at DDay

Both Ana and Georgia were dropped off in the morning.

Grandma had to set the alarm to give herself time to get organised

Fruit was cut up and in Ana’s snack box.

Variety of small packets containing chips, and crackers

Her big bottle was filled with water and it was all set in the coffee table ready for her to just pick and eat

I set up a change table section so I wouldn’t have to bend

And the new baby seat was brought out into the living room

I did but nappies but I got the wrong size. Lots were packed into her bag so nothing to worry about

The morning went very smoothly

And both girls were happy

I love that they both look at me while taking the photo

Soon enough Georgie was showing signs of needed her nap.

She pretty much cuddled into me and drifted of to sleep

Ana must of felt a little out of the loop and wanted cuddles too

When I wasn’t taking pictures my arm had to be around her  which grandma was very pleased to do

Love holding and looking at a sleeping baby.

Once she was well and truly asleep I popped her into the cot.

Ana and I then spent some time together doing whatever she wanted to do.

Georgia slept for almost three hours

She woke happy.

I changed her and when she decided she wanted her bottle I defrosted some and started to feed her.

No way was she going to accept the bottle

I was warned that she might but I thought that was because of all the sights and sounds of daycare

Nope she didn’t want anything to do with it.

Her mummy did say she liked eating and sent a pic of what she was using

I did grab a few of the pouches. She nearly ate a whole pouch. Which I was very happy with.

But she still wanted milk. I knew this as she was turning her head towards me when I held her.

I was able to distract her for a while but eventually she was very upset and nothing I did helped.

In desperation I rang her daddy and asked him to come over as soon as he was done.

Georgia was taken home to mummy and fed. I was relieved

Ana stayed because she wanted to see grandpa

This morning mummy had organised new tests for the bottle and Georgia fed and fell asleep

Fingers crossed that the issue is now fixed and she will once again accept the bottle.

Grandma does not want her being that upset ever again.

I do not do well listening to one I love be so upset.

Resting. Kinda

This morning I had a sleep in. I didn’t get to sleep until late last night because of the usual reasons.

I had planned on resting today in preparation for tomorrow.

Not only will Ana come to visit, but her sister will too.

My first double trouble day was supposed to have been last Friday, but we all know what happened.

Instead.today, I spent the day cleaning spiderwebs, dusting and vacuuming

I don’t know why but this year has been bad for spiders. I can clean a web today and tomorrow it will be back.

Even my car needs cleaning of the little buggers building endeavours.

Now I’m done for the day I’m continuing to increase the size of this granny square blanket. It will be added to the pile for the farm.

Hopefully the meds work better and I get some sleep. I’m going to need to be on my toes

Getting things done

this morning hubby drove me to the doctors to get a fasting blood test

There were quite a few tests she asked for so they took two vials full.

Then a urine test was asked for, so she gave me the little plastic jar and sent me off in my way.

Once I had been totally bled of all liquids I left.

I had scripts to drop off at my pharmacy

Home again after that I turned in the radio in the kitchen and went to work.

There were plums that were very ripe so they were pitted and cut up. I also had half a tub of blackberries that had been pushed to the back and forgotten. They were added to the plums.

We had the last of the oranges from our tree and some mandarins. They were all cut up as well

They’re now in the freezer for future use. I didn’t get the seeds out of the citrus because I figured that when I defrost them they’ll be squishy and easier to de pip.

I then tackled a bag of peppers from the market garden across the road. I cleaned and cut them up. I had half an onion so that got sliced.

Some tomatoes that had ripened too much for salads or sandwiches, so they were put in also

I went into the freezer to get the last of the leek and cherry tomatoes to add as well.

It’s all cooked up and ready to eat. It’s a great side dish to steak or any BBQ. Plus I’ll freeze some for in the slow cooker to use during winter.

I then turned to the excess of eggs. I got some silverbeet from the garden. The last packet of feta cheese and the eggs to make my version of spinach pie

My eggs. They look like peaches in syrup lol

I ended up using 20 eggs in just one pie

I’ve messaged the boys telling them it’s ready to eat.

Finally I’ve organised my crafting corner.

I purchased a coffee table with a lift up top

Once closed all my craft paraphernalia is hidden. Making it look neater. Not to mention little people won’t be able to get at it.

Georgia won’t stay a baby for very long. So I’m getting ahead  start with the baby proofing

I also have a basket to store the actual WIP’s I’m working on. It will be easy to pick up the whole basket and put it up out of reach

As you can just see, Trixies bed with her toys are just visible in the left corner.

This too will once again be moved when we have a mobile baby.

It’s now one in the afternoon and I’m very tired.

I went to bed last night after midnight. I was staying up to see this

You could actually see it with the naked eye. Not this brilliantly unfortunately but once it was viewed through the phone, magical

We have been so lucky to have seen so many Auroras. It’s been one good view every year for the last three years

I still would love to see the northern lights one  day, but for now I’m just happy to have seen this.

Right now, life is good in the nest

Forgotten treasures

I am please to say hubby had a good nights sleep and has woken up happy.

You really cannot sleep in hospital

Me? Well my sewing machine was being all kinds of mean. So i goggled different videos and went through every. From scratch. Elna 101.

I have used it and I seem to have “ fixed” the problem. I did ring a sewing machine mechanic and he gave me some advice.

If it continues to be a bugger it will be taken to the machine hospital to get looked at

While I was doing all that, I had to look for a foot on the sewing machine. I thought I was short one. So I pull out the old bag I used to carry it to class. I looked in every pocket no luck.

But I did find this

Squares I’ve quilted to make a quilt as you go blanket

I must of stored them in there when we had to pull down the old room and rebuild it again

Knowing me, I probably thought that the next time I go to put the machine in there I would find them

Obviously I’ve not used the bag

There was also more fabric to use

Also, the other day I was collecting quilts to be taken to the farm house and I found this

I had started it to use up my odd balls and then totally forget about w

I’ve added a dozen rows to it in the last few days. It was a nice change from sewing. A bit of a holiday

As for the EPP it’s coming along slowly but surely

Now I have plenty to get on with.

Should keep me out of trouble for a few weeks anyway

Finally

well the prisoner had been released. He was so eager to come home he waited out front for us

My lovely friends once again picked me up and drove to the hospital to pick him up.

I really do have the best friends

He has come home with a bag full of medical supplies so I can clean and change the bandages

He also has boxes of antibiotics to keep taking.

If he is good and listens to all medical advice he should be alright.

My work has now commenced.

Lord help me.

Current news

hubby is staying another 24 hours in the hospital

He is in extreme pain. He isn’t one to complain and never suffers from man flu, so if he says his in pain it will be really bad. The have heavily sedated him for now.

Please keep him in your thoughts. Up until now I’ve not been worried but I am now

Update

sorry no pictures today. Just information

Hubby rang to say the surgeon had visited. She told him the  spur had gone in so far it had hit the knuckle bone.

She also informed him that she is very confident that it’s all clean and that it shouldn’t get an infection.

Still she wanted him to stay the extra night.

Side note:

When explaining what had happened to the various doctors who initially talked to him. Apparently there were five!

Not one of them knew what a spur was.

They all pulled their phones out and googled it.

Hubby then pointed out where the offending appendage was.

It just goes to show. No matter who you are or how educated you may be. There is always something you can bring to the table and pass on  knowledge to others.

Hopefully I can spring him tomorrow and he can come home

Roo rage

This is our rooster. Hubby rescued him from a batch of hens that were delivered to an egg farm

He was a lovely little fellow, until his hormones hit

He is constantly trying to kill us. And no. I’m not being dramatic

I will not go near him. Hubby has been doing all chicken related chores

Yesterday, while I was out at the doctors

This roo flew up and got hubby on his hand. He was filling the feed container for them.

Apparently it hurt. Lots.

His hand then blew up. Now when ever he gets hurt I have to drag him kicking and screaming to the doctors

But not this time.

The doctor looked at his hand, heard the story, and sent him off to the hospital. He went to our nearest one, Casey. But they weren’t able to deal with it, so he was sent to Dandy hospital

They took one look at his hand, heard the story and admitted him

I have been to see him this morning, my lovely friends drove me because going there would have given me a massive anxiety attack.

While we were there they took him into surgery.

They will open it up, give it a good clean and put him on IV antibiotics

He will be there for another two days. If there isn’t any sign of infection he will be let out.

But

If there is they might have to get him back into surgery to give it another clean

I will continue to update everyone.

Chicken are definitely the great grandchildren of dinosaurs because this one thinks he’s huge and mighty

Oh and to answer everyone’s question

No hubby doesn’t want to “ dispatch’ the criminal.

Moving

no we aren’t moving. But some friends are. We spent Sunday helping them move out of their home. They want to down size

Helping was basically putting boxes into a van to transport it all to where it will be stored until they find a place

They’re going away for six weeks. So they’re not looking right now. They will stay with one of their children until they find what they like

They have stored everything in  shipping container  those things can hold heaps

Because they ate down sizing they wanted to get rid of a few things.

They had a spare bed and a two seater sofa.

They gifted them to us. They’re really lovely like that

And today the hubby came with us to put them into the small house at the farm

It’s already made it feel more like home.

We still have a second bedroom that needed a bed

I got on Facebook marketplace and found one 15 minutes away for only $100.00

I contacted the seller and we have gone and purchased it

Here is the mattress ready to go into the trailer.

If only I knew. We would have put off taking the other things until tomorrow.

Not that it matters. We will store it until we can take it down.

While at the farm we could see and smell the smoke from the bushfires

They are far enough away that we are not in imminent danger, but close enough that given the right conditions they could easily move them into our area.

As we don’t live there, the only things we could lose are things  things can be replaced  unfortunately there are many families living in the area. hopefully the fires won’t spread but if they do, they gets lots of warning and are able to evacuate

It’s a scary time in our state of Victoria  we have lots of bush areas  once fires take hold they are very hard to get under control

Please send lots of love and prayers we need all the help we can get

A day with Anastasia

even though mummy and daddy were home we still have grandma day.

She knows it’s four days day care and then grandma

It was extremely hot outside so it was definitely a stay indoors day

She arrived later than usual, we all had sleep ins.

So by the time she got here it was morning tea time

Fruit and vegetables all cut and easy to eat

Here they are watching television  Ana was patting Trixie because she had a little incident that made her yelp

She was so gentle and showed more empathy than some adults I could name

We did some cut and paste

We jumped on grandpa

And we also had a science experiment

I had been searching how to grow crystals and got all the items we needed ready

It looks like something is happening. I told Ana that tomorrow I’ll take a photo and send it to her mummy so she can see the progress.

We found this bonnet while I was searching for the borax, I put it somewhere safe so if course I couldn’t find it straight away

I told her I made it for her when she was a baby  she wanted to try it on

I then found the old photo and showed it to her

Still a cutie.

Ana saw my patch work and wanted to see it

We played I spy and had fun finding all the hidden pictures

When mummy and daddy arrived to pick her up, we decided to have dinner together before they left

That way grandma got lots of Georgia cuddles

They have now gone home

Everything has been put away and the lounge room is clean.

Next Friday will be the first Friday I have both the girls

It’s a trial run while mummy is still home.

I can ring for support if I get “stuck”

I’m pretty confident that I’ll be ok.

Well that’s the plan anyway

Wednesday, January 7, 2026

Hot hot hot

today summer decided to come all in one day!

Expected to of 42

I converted it using google. That math problem is just to hard for me to work out

So this morning I got up and jumped into action

I’ve watered  all the pots out front

Everyone has received their breakfast

And cool fresh water has berm supplied

This is what greeted me while I was giving them fresh water. I grabbed a new water container and filled it right by the back fence. This was it will stay in the shade all day

The chickens got a bag of ice in a shallow container. They can sit around it and drink the cold water. This will help keep them cool. The trees shade them during the afternoon when it’s the hottest so they will be ok.

And finally an extra tub of water with the bag of ice. They all drink from this tub. Cats and dogs. Even Trixie, and there is water inside for her and Bella. The two that come in. Teddy and  Agatha seem to just want to be outside

The difference between pure breeds and cross breeds. One likes pampering the other roughing it in the wild

Now I’m back inside. All blinds that are on the east side are down. It makes a huge difference

Later after the sun is in the west the front blinds will go down.

We are constantly getting an extreme weather warnings on our phones.

We are all worried about bush fires

I hope and pray people are extra vigilant so that if one does break out, it will be attended to straight away.

Before it gets out of control
