Repurposing

A little while ago I purchased two dresses at only $10.00 each. I knew I wouldn't wear them as they were but at that price who could resist
I wanted to make them into skirts because I love long flowing skirts. I loved the colours of these and I knew they would look great
I measured and cut and sewed. I added some elastic that I got for less than a dollar and viola a brand new skirt. I'm wearing this one now and I feel fabulous, especially knowing how cheap it is. If I go back and there are more dresses I'll get me some more and really boost my wardrobe for the winter. A pair of leggings underneath and a long warm cardie and I'm set.

Peaceful

Sitting outside in my hammock, listening to the sounds of twilight. The birds singing a good bye to the day. A couple of dogs barking in th distance. The sun going down and the light slowly fading away.
I can smell th smoke from out wood fire that has just been relighted and th chill that settles now that the heat of our autumn sun has gone down.
It's times like these that make you so thankful for the peaceful life we life, outside the hussell of the big city. Where you can see the stars when they come out at night.
Right now although I know there many troubles in the world, all is quite and peaceful here.
I hope you all get some quiet time as well.

A big shopping day

Oh mummy what have you got there. I see lots of food.

Why are you putting all the food in there?

Fine I'll just hide in here then, or maybe sit on these. Then you will play with me.

Buffy

This is buggy our rescue cat. We got her about 15 years ago. She was so malnourished and abused we were not sure how old she was. No one could near her, especially young kids and males.
It took along time for her to trust us enough to let her pat her and many years before we could pick her up. Many years only our family could touch her but now she loves to be patted by anyone. Lately, since the weather has turned  cold, she has been going to work with don in the mornings. She just follows him. The boys have been give her food and they feed her every morning then after she eats she goes straight into the  office and sits on the chair. So she's dons right hand man. We are getting worried about her, but as long as she's eating and happily interacting then we will let her continue. But as soon as she turns for the worst ill have to make the heart wrenching decision to take her to the vet. She was not very loving at first and would even attack. But she has learnt to love and has become the most loyal and loving cat, and we all love her to bits.

Definition of frustration

Bella is really wanting to go outside to chase all the birds. She sits at any open window and talks to all the birds that fly past. It's a wonderful sound, it's like a chirping sound rather than a meow. We had a bird stuck in our fire and when hubby opened the door to get it out it flew right over her head. She was off like a flash and caught  it in about 30 seconds so she would be very dangerous outside. So she is definitely and indoor only cat. Sorry Bella you can watch them all you like but you cannot go outside.

A bad day

Standing on the edge
Staring at the abyss
Tired of hanging on
Wanting to let go
To feel the freedom of falling
Into the blackness
Into the unknown
To stop feeling
To stop thinking
Finding bliss

Planting and harvesting

Last week hubby pulled out the last of the summer veggies and got the garden beds ready for the winter crop.
We planted broccoli, cauliflower, leeks, spinach and kale.
We mulched it all to stay nice and warm and hopefully we get rain to keep it nice and watered.
Meanwhile today we harvested the potatoes we had in our pots. Two pots and two spuds and we got a huge bowl full.
Not bad for something that took no looking after at all except for a little water.
You didn't even have to worry too about water as the pots had a section in the bottom which filled with water and the plants take it as needed.
The garden is in no way as large as it was when the kids were here and I was healthy, but it's enough to let us potter.
