Winter is coming, Maybe

The nights and mornings have been quite chilly.
As my home is made using besser bricks, I do know they’re known by another name in the USA but I can’t remember it right now
It gets cold in here quickly. Great in summer, not so much in winter

I decided to light the fire last night, and this morning, it’s still going.

It was a cold foggy morning so it was needed

Perfect weather for slow cookers
The vegetables in here are my frozen summer harvests
The meatballs were bought ready made.

I got myself a Mother’s Day gift
A little loom. I think I’m going to have fun (stress) working it all out. I’ll definitely take pictures of how it’s been set up

As I was out half of yesterday. I went to my mums to do the shopping with her. I’ll be found doing  very little today. Just what absolutely needs doing.
And I’ll definitely be staying home

Because of this I’ve half changed out of my pj’s
The warm pj pants I’m leaving on.
Add my hairy coo’s slippers
And I’m as happy as a pig in poo lol

The temperature is predicted to be in the low 20’s. But it’s not till later and it won’t last long

I am so ready for winter. And rain!
We need lots more rain.
Could y’all send it my way please. I don’t want to go out and water everything

Thanks

  1. The slippers are hilarious! And a loom, that's exciting. Complete with rigid heddle, great. Now I'm looking forward to updates on where you are with weaving. Does Caro know?

    1. No. It only arrived on Mother’s Day. And I’ve just set it up to play with

  4. Just checked: I grew up knowing them as breeze blocks, then in the US cinder blocks, now I learn besser bricks. I don't know what breezes and cinders have to do with it.

    1. Cinder blocks was the one I had heard before.
I guess every country has its own vernacular
It is interesting to learn them all

  5. We know them as breeze blocks too, Half our house is built with them and the walls are freezing in winter. And damp But that fire is perfect for heating the house up and drying it out. Its wonderful at the beginning of winter to settle down beside a hot fire and chill out with a good tv programme and some knitting. Enjoy it all!!
On the other hand I'm glad when the seasons change again and we no longer have fires and ashes to get rid of. We are still in Spring. A lot of rain last night. The garden will be growing though the nasturtiums are finished and I'm slowly pulling them out

    1. Yes the fire is perfect for getting rid of that damp cold feeling.
I’m sure buy the end of winter I’ll be sick of the fire too.
The rain is great for the garden. A good watering before the heat of summer

  6. I'm in Yorkshire. We are heading into Summer, but it is so dry here that the fields and gardens are parched, so we could do with some rain too. As an English person I don't say that lightly!

    1. It was very dry two years ago when I visited.
Even up in the Scottish highlands it was dry and they had a huge fire
Here we see saw between droughts and floods.
It keeps us on our toes
