Farm world

Today hubby and I headed off to a field day at Lardner Park

Farm world happens every year. We used to take the kids S it was way cheaper than going to the royal Melbourne show

As usual there were lots of big machines

Someone was selling these sculptures they had made
They were stunning

There were animals. Not as many as in days of past. But definitely enough to get the kids excited

Cattle, alpacas and sheep

There were even some hairy coo’s

Taking you sheep for a walk as you do

There was so much to see. It’s grown so much from when we used to go.
The farm it’s in is hilly. I was exhausted by the time we had seen half of what was there

I waited by the gate while hubby went and got the car.
Except for my health issues cutting the day short
It was a lovely day out

Hectic and emotional

I’ve been running on adrenaline it seems. And I’m now in a crash
There are different reasons that are causing me to be a tad emotional
And there are worries that I won’t get answers too for a few weeks
So I try to not worry, but sleep is eluding me adding to my brain fog
I don’t mean to be cryptic but right now I can’t say much because we just don’t know

I’ve been trying to keep on knitting. Crafting has always been my way
Of dealing with things out of my control

It’s getting pretty long now. It needs to be long enough for it to go right
Around my chest

In case you missed the post where I showed y’all what the finished product
Is supposed to look like.

Unfortunately today I’ve spent more time “unknitting” than actually
Knitting enough to add to the length.

I’ve now put it down and giving myself a brake.
I’ll go out soon and bring in the washing
I’ll fold it all and out it away.
With a bit of luck that will get my brain into gear and I’ll
Be able to focus a tad better than I am right now

I will enlighten you all with the current situation
As soon as I have answers
Pray I get good ones please

Iris’s

My irises that were ordered months ago have arrived
The lovely lady did say that she dug them up in march so I wasn’t expecting them any time soon

But having forgotten all about them I received and email telling me they were on their way

They were packed nicely with shredded paper to keep the safe

Also included a copy of my order and some pamphlets
Advising even more varieties of irises

I weeded a patch of the garden I wanted to plant them in and just put them everywhere not caring what colours were where

They’re protected by the mulberry trees and a couple of other trees. I can’t remember their names.  But next spring after giving the trees a good pruning they will get lots of sunlight

I’ve watered them all in and im exhausted
That was hard work. Especially as I’m pretty unfit

I just hope they all survive

Friday fun day

We relaxed watching television

We used grandmas fan to cool off

New snack box was a hit

Collected autumn leaves and pasted them on paper to take home and put on the refrigerator

We also visited grandpa at the shed
And fed Dobby the Donkey

And found a snail. We put him safely into the garden.

Another fun filled day at grandmas house

Mabon

As you know the seasons are flipped down here.
So today we celebrate mabon. The autumn equinox

Day and night is now the same length of time.
All over the world.
But for you in the northern hemisphere it’s spring
Full of possibilities

For us the harvest.
Summer is going and the days will darken
We will go in and rest from a busy summer growing and harvesting
For the coming winter

May we all have a blessed day and may the world be blessed with peace and
Happiness
So mote it be )0(

Continuing

Today was clean and organise the linen press
I saw a lady on the web fold her sheets and Doonas then place them into one of the pillowcases.
Each bundle is one set of sheets or doona sets

Once I had re organised the linen I had a spare shelf.
Perfect for storing quilts and blankets I’ve made

I still have the top shelf to attack but I ran out of puff so I might do that tomorrow

I’m definitely nesting. Making the nest clean and organised ready for me to hibernate during winter

Meanwhile trixie had an appointment at the vet.
She had an infected tooth which didn’t go away with antibiotics. So it was removed today.

She didn’t talk to me when she first came home.
Even though it was hubby that took her and picked her up. Obviously I was in the bad book for allowing him to take her

Hopefully she won’t need to see the vet again for a long time

Catching up

After a busy weekend I needed to catch up on neglected jobs

Having Ana two days in a row I didn’t bother to clean the toy room.

So today it’s gone from this

To this. I need to vacuum and now it will be much easier

It’s a beautiful sunny, but not hot? Day

Bed was stripped and remade with linen from the cupboard.

Meanwhile I’ve hung it under the back veranda

I also took the comforter from the spare bed and washed that. Bella sleeps on it and it can get furry

I also picked up in the spare room as well. Things were just getting dumped in there to be dealt with later

I did a quick run to the supermarket. I didn’t buy any meat and still it came in over $200.

I did have to stock up on pet food, and some cleaning products but still.

I have Ana one of these and she loved it.
Unfortunately buying it like this works out to be a tad expensive

I bought this instead. I’ll fill it with cheese, cabana, rice biscuits, tiny tomatoes, or whatever I have at the time

I hope she will like it just as much
Grandma can also slip healthy snacks in  like carrot sticks and sultanas

While away I was forever filling my water bottle.
One of these ladies had one of these. It lasted way longer   So today I got one.  It’s not a fancy one from the camping store, but I’m sure it will work just fine

I made sure the opening was large so I could fill it with ice so my drink will stay cool

Finally I found some wagon wheels hot cross buns.
Now in my youth I did like those chocolate biscuits called wagon wheels. I did a taste test, you know because I’m selfless that way, and it does taste like a wagon wheel

Shopping has been packed away
I’m have a little rest and then I start vacuuming.

This afternoon I plan to just sit and knit.
By then I would have earned it.

Forty days

It’s forty day, six weeks, since my father died.
In Greek Orthodox religion it’s an important day

So today we met the priest at the cemetery so he could say the prayers over the grave

Tomorrow we go to church for more praying.

I think all these “ important dates” are not something i want to do. It doesn’t allow you to move on. But everyone expects it’s, including my mother. So we do it.

Both wonder son and beautiful daughter in law had things planned today   They asked if we could watch Ana and of course we did. We picked her up at her house on the way to the cemetery and had her with us.

To keep her busy while waiting for the Priest we collected gum nuts. She got quite the haul

Here she is putting them in containers pretending to be cooking with them

Then we took all the cushions and made an obstacle course

Watching the telly with her bestie

Right now and has gone to the shed to see how long her daddy is going to be.

Meanwhile I had to rip out one whole pattern repeat
I don’t know how or why but it just didn’t look correct

It would of bothered me so I made the decision to rip

I counted the rows as I ripped it out but still it took me a little while to work out which row I was on

So I’m one repeat down. It doesn’t matter. In the end I’ll be much happier with it

All in all it’s been an interesting day

Craft day

Grandma found the special scissors she had purchased for cutting and pasting

This is what happens when you clean

We raided the colour paper stash and got into it

The black book you can see has plain pages, we used those to paste our shapes on and make pictures

After all that hard work Ana fell asleep on the couch

Her daddy has taken her home now.
It’s been another exciting day at grandmas

Rearranging

In this corner I had the box with the owl with blankets on top
It had packets of yarn that at the time of purchase I just had nowhere to keep.

I also had tucked behind the large purple flat case that I used to take my quilting
Paraphernalia too and from the classes I used to do.
Many many moons ago

It never looked tidy

The yarn is now in the first three boxes.  These now sit where the box was.
It looks much neater and it’s easier to get to the yarn when I’m looking for it

Meanwhile the blankets are in the box tucked away in this corner
The wicker basket on it has bits and bobs in it. I really need to go through that and see if I can
distribute or get rid of what’s in it. I’m not actually sure what it all is
The purple case is behind it
And the brown doggie play pen is under my cupboards. It’s now something I’ve used since Trixie was a puppy.
She used to go in there when I was opening the sliding door to bring in wood for the fire
She now stays inside and I don’t have to worry

But for now it’s much neater.

The lilac metal shelves has a recent order of yarn and fabric stashed in there.
I’m sure they will be transferred  into the fabric boxes away from view
Then I’ll decorate what I’ll do with it. As you can see in the background there are lots
Of things in tubs and shelves. I’m going to go through that all and see what I can
Put away in the fabric draws, and what I can recycle or give away.

Once it’s all cleared there will be a place for the shelves and hopefully it will look neater and
Be easier for finding what I need

And a progress shot of the cables.
I was out most of yesterday, so I didn’t work on it much.
But now I’ve got the whole thing sorted in my brains I’m going faster

So for the rest of today I’ll go from organising the craft room, and knitting while I
have frequent  resting stops.
I’ve learnt to not push too hard or I’ll be out of action for days
And with Ana here tomorrow I just can’t afford to be sore and exhausted

Once that’s done. Well I have the pantry and refrigerator to sort
Out and clean.
Not looking forward to that!
