Anniversary

I can’t believe it’s been this long
I know it’s cliché but the years really fly.
It’s been a roller coaster, as all marriages are, but we are still here.
Nothing planned. It’s just another day.
But we do realised that we are very blessed and we take nothing for granted.
Looking forward to the coming years

Mushrooms

Mosaic crochet is coming along slowly
The fibro fog is particularly bad right now.  There is lots of counting and I’m so bad I forget the number as soon as I say it.

Today the sun is shining and that bitter cold is gone.
There is always something to be thankful for.

Walk about

The rain and winds have stopped. So we went for a bit of a wander around the place

You can see how much rain we had

This dam was bone dry!
It filled up over the last week

Checking the veggie patch and not much is happening
The rhubarb is kicking on.  Which is lovely to see

The first planting is now established and growing well.

The second is still just sitting quietly.

The sugar beets have grown. I’ll start harvesting and adding them to my stews and roast them

More beets in the foreground. The jonquils are happily flowering away.

No sign of the potatoes as yet. I’m sure they’ll pop up soon

The frost has Damaged this poor plant. I’ll wait until all frost has gone and cut it back. It should regrow.

My rosemary is really doing well. I had to cut it back so I could get in and out of the gate

The bees were all over it.

It was nice to just walk around.  I ignored all the weeds. I’ll get to them once the weather improves

The chickens have been let out of lockdown to clean up the small orchard.

They will spend the day here and go back in their run
It’s wet so we will get some more sawdust and put it down for them to have a nice clean and dry area to play in.

This will have to done during the week. The sawdust people are closed Sundays

Hope you’re all keeping warm or cool depending on where in the wacky world you live.

Crazy weather all over

There’s a mouse in the house

All day yesterday Trixie had her nose under the couch.  She would be on one side
Then run around to the other side
I couldn’t see anything because the section she was looking at is low to the ground.
I needed to lift up the whole couch to see properly. But it’s too big

I actually got hubby and wonderson pull the couch apart and look.
There wasn’t any tight there. But I know my dog. She wouldn’t be that fixated for nothing.

This morning. While sitting quietly I see a mouse run across from the heater to the back of the wall unit.
Trixie is now right there waiting.

So tonight mouse traps will be set and hopefully we catch a little critter

Not that I blame it.  It’s very cold and wet out there.
But if your not paying rent, or giving me love.
You got to leave

I’m off to art class. But first I have to add a few more layers to keep me warm.

EDIT
Bella has caught the mouse and has gone outside with it

Good kitty

Potty training

Only Ana today. Older girls are back at school
Her parents have started potty training and we continued today

For ease we had only undies on and no pants
We only had one accident. She was very good

In the nail
Salon today. It’s a tough job deciding what colour

Outside it was very cold. We had strong winds and now rain.

We not only had the wood fire going. We also had the ducted heating

It’s going to be miserable for the next week or so.

I’m definitely feeling it in my bones.
There is a global computer cliche, apparently
So far it hasn’t affected me. Hopefully they sort it out soon

A wonderful surprise

Today I got a call from the post office telling me I had a parcel from overseas.
I hadn’t bought anything. Yeah I know. I’m shocked too lol
So I sent hubby to go and get it whatever it was.

It was a parcel sent from poros!

For me and the girls. A little bag each

Included was a post card and a fridge magnet. I collect these from everywhere I go.

http://local-kiwi-alien.blogspot.com/

Local kiwi alien sent it to me.
Who ever says internet friends are not real. Have not had ones like I do.
Thank you so so much.
I can feel the summer sun from them.

The girls will love them too.
I’m truely bless to have people like you in my life.

Recovery

Today I’m not doing much at all

Had art this morning. Work in our project is continuing nicely. I don’t think it’s going to take anywhere as long to finish as the giants causeway. I guess we will see

Meanwhile hubby cleaned the birdcages and had bought more dowel to replace and add extra perches

You can see the new ones  are nice bright and straight
The old perch was bent like a banana. Claws and beaks were sharpened on it

It’s currently raining outside so I’m set up on the couch continuing with my crochet

I think the colours work well together

I’ll show you a progress shot once the pattern has been completed once.

Utter chaos

All three girls were here again today
Usually they start off quietly as they really don’t get to spend lots of time together. But now they’re all great friends and the chaos ensues right from the start

Here they are all dressing up and doing fashion show

Melody was MC and tried to keep it all running smoothly

She even had a red carpet.

They played, read books and played with Trixie

The carnage spilled out the toy room down the hall all the way to the lounge

The two older girls have gone home
Ana is playing with grandpa

The toy room is back to normal with everything in it’s proper tubs or boxes

Grandma has earned her drink tonight lol
I love it when they’re all here. Playing, building relationships and creating memories to share later in life once I’m gone

The things we do

This pattern is printed really small.
My eyes are not the best and I can so easily lose were I’m up too. Especially as I repeat the pattern twice

This is my answer to staying on track

So far. So good

Back in my comfort zone

I finally finished hubbys jumper.
It fits like a glove and he’s wearing it today

I might make another but for now I’m going back to what I know and love

Mosaic crochet
A mushroom house. The blanket is two patterns wide and it will probably be two patterns high. But I’ll decide that once I’ve completed one whole pattern repeat

I can do this while listening to my audiobook. I’ve got all the paraphernalia I need. Clipboard, cardboard marker, pen and paper. I use the pen and paper to cross off the number line as it’s done

It’s not going to be a huge blanket. Well I don’t think it will lol. It will keep me busy for a while though.

Feeling all the activity of the last three days now. So easy crochet is just what I need

Where ever you are, and what ever the weather.
Keep crafting

Firewood

After a frosty and foggy morning, the sun came out.
It was a good day to stick up the firewood

Hubby chainsawed

I did the splitting

The chickens were all around us. They have been in lockdown to minimise their contact with wild birds
Bird flu is a worry at the moment. Enough farms have been affected that egg supply for the supermarkets has taken a dive

Working together we filled two and. Half crates

Hubby is bringing them along the house with the forklift
I’ve had a long hot bath and I can tell you I won’t be doing much for the rest of the day

It is good to know we will be able to stay toasty warm for a while still.
Split wood for the fire is as good as money in the bank!

Done

With lots of help from hubby. The roses are done.

He weeded the hard stuff while I pruned and pulled out the big easy weeds

Getting there

We pruned the climbing snail plant , I think it’s what it’s called. It might come back. It might not. We will see

It’s opened up the whole area

There is still a little section to weed.
and it will be mulched

Every time I think I want to buy another rose. I remember this time of year and think, I  probably have enough lol

Now to think about the other areas in the garden
Still so much to do
That’s for another day

A grand day

Today I had all the girls
They watched some television

We went outdoors to visit all the animals

Did some chalk drawing on the concrete

All day in the same chair

And had a wonderful day.

It was exactly what I needed. Lots of quality time with my girls

A chilly start

This morning the whole world was white. Jack first had been during the night

I used to love going out to check all the animals when it was frosty. The crunch of the grass as I walk was soothing to me.

Now of course I have to warm the joints before I can walk

Eventually the sun came out and I went out to prune more roses

I also pulled weeds as I went
Another three wheelbarrow loads and I was done

I will need a day to rest again before attempting to do any more.

Friday I’ll have all the girls here so no gardening
I guess it will have to be finished on Saturday

Now all have to do is work out what we are having for dinner

I’ve got lots of eggs. Maybe something simple like eggs on toast.
