Scan day

This morning I had to be at Frankston hospital before 7.30am for the scan with the dye

It took ages for my heart rate to come down, even after they gave me a tablet to get it to slow down

Needles and doctors make my heart race
But eventually it all worked and I had the scan without any issues and was sent home with orders to not do anything

So I spent the afternoon sewing the binding on the baby quilt

It’s now all done and wait is for great grandma to pick it up when she’s next down from Queensland

She will then take it with her to the States when she visits

I hope the new mamma will like it

If there is an issue with the scans, they will let my GP know
So now we wait

A busy day

But enjoyable
I pined and quilted this baby blanket this morning

I got most of the quilting done before going to art class and finished it off
When I got back.

The binding has been machine stitched to the quilt and I’ve pinned the binding down ready to hand sew

I also did three loads of washing all of which has dried outside.
I’ve just remade the bed with fresh smelling sheets and doona cover.
I can’t wait to get into bed tonight

The other student in the art class is away so it was just judie the teacher and me
I continued working on the painting we started last week. It’s coming along nicely
I’ll post a pic once it’s finished

For dinner we had homemade  lamb burgers with mint from my garden
And a green salad also from the garden
I didn’t take pics and now it’s all gone.

Hopefully today is the start of a dry spell, the sun is still shining
And it makes you feel so much better than the dreary wet weather we have been having

One thing leads to another

In the craft room I have lots of WIP’s
( works in progress)

After making the patchwork top for the baby quilt I used the cut offs to make 10 inch squares to use as bowl cosies

I need to cut up wadding for each piece but didn’t want to cut into my big piece if I didn’t have to

So I finally trimmed up that scrappy quilt.
Yes that’s still a WIP

So now I’m unpicking the stitches to separate the wadding

I may have to join up a few pieces to be able to make up the 10 inch squares

This is why it takes so long to finish
Things have to wait until I do that other thing
Or stuff gets put aside for an urgent craft items that’s needed by a specific date

It’s doesn’t really matter
It all gets done when it’s done
But seriously even when I’m busy I can sometimes feel like I’ve achieved very little

More rain and cold
I might have to migrate to warmer climates at this rate

Melbourne cup

Today is the day we run the race that stops. Nation.
Only it’s pouring rain and cold. Much colder than the normal for this time of year.

I took this shirt video just outside home
It’s miserable out there

I’m currently sitting inside working on my latest mosaic crochet

We have the fire going and Netflix on the telly
Not much else we can do

If you have a flutter on the races I hope you win.
Me. Well I won’t even bother.
Stay warm and dry

Hive of activity

All around us I can hear ride in mowers and log splitters going

Everyone trying to get stuff done before the next big wet and cold.

Hubby has done the back yard. He did the front and around yesterday

Our neighbour across the road is on his mower

The farmers directly across from us has planted a Field of pumpkin seedlings. They have now covered them all to protect them from the frosts

Me. Well I’m cooking chicken in the oven and doing some sewing on the baby girl quilt squares

It was warm this morning but it’s now dropping in temp
And getting dark once again

But at least we are ready

Big Malaka

Here I am with Vasili in Coburg. I wanted to get a few of his big malaka tomatoes

My cousin took us to the nursery. He had already bought me two malaka plants and today I got three more

I also got a few other varieties of big tomatoes and done big sweet chillies

I have planted them all out in these two wicking beds

Some of the beans I sowed have started to come up

I bought this huge pot from next door. Hubby helped me move it to where I wanted it and filled it with soil and compost mix. We get it from a market gardener who has started making organic compost

I’ve planted my rhubarb into it.

I asked Brock why he thought my hoya had never flowered.
He suggested I repot and feed. So another job ticked off today

This is a nashie tree that was being removed and disposed off.
It found a new home here with us. It only got planted this winter and we were just happy it started to grow leaves. But look it’s got blossom

So I’m pretty sure it’s survived the transplant
We had to hurry to get everything done as it’s supposed to rain again later.

Hubby is now getting some firewood from the pile out back
It’s predicted to get very cold in the next few days

Hopefully everything I’ve planted survives  and thrives

Exhibitionist

Today we had a two hour art class at Tides restaurant in Tooradin

We started a brand new picture. Both Maree and I were a tad nervous, but as soon as we started painting we blocked out the world and concentrated on the art

You can see above me is the iPad with the picture we were using as inspiration. Once again three different pictures from three very different painters. It’s always inspiring too how we interpret each project

We also paint at different speeds  and that changes every time as well

As usual we had a laugh and heaps of fun
After all. That’s what’s important in life. Just enjoy it
