The driveway needed dons maintenance work done.
The very long wet has been hard on it.
First hubby removed the old drain and refuge the Ditch
New drains were purchased and installed
Trixie is learning to stay close and not run off no matter what distractions she sees
Wonderson visited so he helped his dad by bringing the new topping from the shed
While his dad levelled and spread it out
It’s recycled road bitumen so once it settles and flattens out it will hopefully stop the bulk of the weeds

And no more big puddles, fingers crossed
For now we have run out of the product so we will wait to get some more to finish the job.

The bulk of the driveway is done for now and it already looks much better
Another weekend has come to an end.
Monday tomorrow. Time is flying.
It will soon be march!
I am collecting the kid from school on Tuesday. I shall drive past and cast admiring glances.
ReplyDeleteWe definitely need another load to finish but I’m sure you will notice the difference
DeleteRecycled road bitumen? Does that compact down and sort of stick together again. It's a good reuse idea tho. I used to see roads being ripped up for resealing and wonder where all that old bitumen could go.
ReplyDeleteIt does develop a crust of sorts. It doesn’t ever become hard like the road. But it does inhibit the growth of weeds and that’s a definite bonus
DeleteThis is a new idea to me. I'd never have thought recycled roadway was usable in a garden. I wonder if it would harden if it were rolled and oiled like a highway, or if once used it doesn't harden again. Your husband certainly knows his stuff.
ReplyDeleteDon’t really want to be adding oils and things. It does work better than the gravel so that’s good
DeleteBig job!
ReplyDeleteLuckily we have a few big boys toys to help get it done
DeleteMy drive way is muddy, some what.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Nothing worse in the winter. That’s why we wanted it done now
DeleteWhen things need doing. They must be done It was lovely that our son was able to give his dad a hand.
