Lammas is the first of the harvest festivals celebrated from the wheel of the year
Time to bring in the grains, cut wheat and start to bring in crops for preserving for winter use
I always feel the turning of the wheel. It’s now cooler in the mornings. And it’s getting darker.
The bite of summer has gone. Even on those very hot days we had. The mornings were misty and cool
I don’t mind. It’s all part of the cycle. Autumn is my favourite season of the year
So day I’ll continue with the preserving of my tomatoes.
Everything else is done.
I might even bake some biscuits,( cookies) for the boys to enjoy
I hope your harvests are bountiful and for those in the northern hemisphere a blessed Imbolc
May your coming harvests be abundant
Here Imbolc, with you, Lammas! Remember to bake the ceremonial bread to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteI’ve got ginger snap cookies in the oven. Will that do?
DeleteI think it's about the wheat harvest, so I'd say yes.
DeleteAutumn is my favourite season, too. I wish it lasted longer. I don't mind the hot days then because I know we will the chilly evenings. I remember corn dolls from my English childhood
ReplyDeleteWe get such hot summers, normally, autumn is a welcome relief
DeleteLammas blessings to you! Up here it's Imbolc today.
ReplyDeleteBlessed Imbolc.
DeleteToday certainly hasn’t been a relief….it’s been a rude awakening 😊
ReplyDeleteYes, the wheel turns, will be stews and hot puddings soon plus hot water bottles at night.
Strangely there is no Harvest Festival advertised yet for the local church, maybe they’ll have one in a week or two.
Hot stews sounds like bliss. I love slow cooker weather
DeleteOh how I always long for autumn on e summer is in full swing. I love spring as well when the warmth of the sun can be enjoyed and appreciated after the winter cold.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Lammas. Our spring still seems a long way off
Our weather has turned cold and wet.
DeleteNot that I’m complaining we needed the rain and I’m ready for snuggling under blanket again
I have seen the play "Dancing at Lughnasadh" at least three times. Celebrate with some dancing too. And enjoy your harvbest.
ReplyDeleteDon’t tell anyone. But I did dance around the kitchen while listening to the radio
DeleteJust a little wiggle. Not as young as I once was lol
