One thing leads to another

These new meds I’m on are fantastic. Unfortunately I’m only allowed to be on them for 16 days. But after three days I’m feeling like my old self. I’ve been doing the decorating and gardening and this morning I even was at the pool at 5.30am. Just like the old days

After an hour and a half I did a Bunnings run
And then a quick food shop and back home to get stuck in

But the plans changed

I weeded these pots and added top dressing of compost

So of course I had to throw in some seeds I can’t remember which packet went where so we will all get a surprise

These shelves were my original Christmas village displays. But I don’t need them now so I’ve taken them out of storage and into the garden. I bought plants at Bunnings which I was going to plant into pretty pots but. Not today now

I did decorate. I’ve added a very long string of solar lights   I’ll try to get. Pic of them on if I stay awake that long

I started watering the front pots. This garden bed has been annoying me for a while. But as I couldn’t bend I had to ignore it. I started just by cleaning all the dead leaves and weeds along the concrete. But then I kept going

Pulling the nasturtiums out and finding all my other plants

Now they’ll have a chance to take off

There is still heaps left in the garden and look how much I pulled out

I also planted more tomatoes. Because you can never have too many I say

And because I can’t help myself. While pulling weeds. These little babies were pulled up. So I’ve planted them in these pots and if they grow I’ll find new homes for them somewhere

So my plans changed. But I did get lots done.
But I definitely think I’ve found the limit of these magic meds.

I’m going to be very sorry when I have to stop taking them. But the doctor says even though the pain will return it hopefully won’t be as bad as it’s been.

We live in hope

Contrasts

Today I concentrated on the back wall of our living room

I started with the two wreaths I hang on the lights. But the mice have chewed them. So they had to be thrown out.

But I continued and this year it looks like this

Nativity scene

Santa and reindeer

My winter village. Hubby made me the A frame stand a few years ago. Clever clogs he is

I’m going to keep an eye out for something to hang from the lights. The wall looks bare

I may not find what I like, at the price I’m happy to pay, until the sales after Christmas. But that’s ok. I’m happy to wait

I love twinkling lights

The funny thing about Christmas in Australia is that it’s in our summer. So while inside I’m all pretend snow and jolly old men from the North Pole   Outside it’s a while different world

The gladioli are starting to bloom

Hydrangea is starting to colour

Veggies are moving along Nicely

The dahlias are starting to come out

And the sun is shining

It’s very confusing isn’t it

Another busy day

This morning I watered all the vegetable gardens as we haven’t really had much rain.

Then off to art. We have so much fun. Especially when we are all working in the same picture

Then back home and straight into Christmas mode

The hardest part is finding everything you want. So many tubs full of stuff.

So I just put out what I find and I’ll add to it as I work through all the plastic tubs and boxes

The table has been started although I’ve got more to add
And the small tree has been added too.

The small living area has been started

I’m trying different things this year  I won’t set up the train so I’ve made this the North Pole

The trees are done. It’s a big job and even with hubby helping it’s taken hours

And hubby has planted out our tamarillo tree. It really has outgrown its pot. Hopefully it likes its new home

It’s under trees to protect it from frosts. But it will get lots of sunshine

So our Saturday has been Jam Pack.
I think we will be buying dinner tonight
We’re exhausted

And so, it begins

Because hubby and wonderson finished work early today I decided they could help me do the hard work of getting out and putting up the trees

Even Ana helped. Although she kept getting distracted
It is boring work

We put the trees up and wonderson put the lights on.
Once again little Ana wanted to help. She was a Good little helper. For as long as she lasted lol

The fibre optic tree. It’s getting old now. I don’t know how bright it will be. But it’s a perfect size for where it is

All the hanging decs on the window light up. So it will be bright enough

Both big trees done skirts on and all greenery vacuumed up

The front door has a new wreath. It’s gorgeous and made for me by my friend who now lives in Queensland

So part one done
Over the weekend I’ll decorate the trees. I won’t over do. I’ll just plod along

There’s a long way to go. It’s a marathon not a sprint.

Book day

Today I got up and got the house ready for the cleaning lady.

I then went outside and took more cuttings from a plant I have out the front
Fingers crossed it works. No pressure as I can just pop next door and buy more lol

I then went out with my crochet and audiobook to keep from being under foot

I also got delivery of my two new “real” books

I love stitcheries and I’m sure I’ll be able to make lots of fun ones from these.
I can them make them into cushion covers , wall hangings table cloths and runners, and
Yes. Even quilts.

There perfect for hot days when you don’t want to be working with yarn

It’s been a long time since I’ve bought actual books so I was a tad excited

I’m now back inside, it’s chilly out there today
And working on my big crochet blanket
A new audiobook started as the one I was listening to finished
And a long overdue coffee

Specialist appointment this afternoon
To discuss our next course of action
I’ll let you all know what we decide

In the meantime. Keep crafting

Same old

Slept in this morning. Which means I was laying down too long so the back had seized

I had to walk slowly for ages until I could do it without tears in my eyes.

But you know me. I have to be doing something so I walked across the road and got some cuttings from my neighbour. I had permission so it wasn’t stealing

I don’t do anything special. Don’t dip in rooting powder. I just snip and stick them into a pot of soil mix.

If they take. They take. If not. Well I’ll try again I usually get a few new plants

Last autumn I took cuttings from a Fig tree that self seeded near our shed

I needed to repot them. But bending wasn’t an option
I’ve wanted a potting table for ages. We have two of these plastic tables that get used once a year. So I asked hubby to set it up for me

It’s perfect.

I now have 13 new fig frees.
Come next autumn I’ll plant them along the north side of the chicken run to provide shade. Even if they don’t produce much fruit   I don’t care.  But I’m sure I’ll be able to harvest something. And the chickens will love the fresh food too

Finally the boys are back home from their yearly groom and medical appointments

All clean and treated ready for summer.

I’ve come in and picked up my crochet. The temps have dropped again so I’m continuing with the big blanket

I really wish the weather gods would just make up their minds and stick to it. This constant changing is killing me

Tired but ok

Yesterday I was not feeling right.
I assumed I had caught whatever hubby had brought home with him from the USA.

My throat felt tight and I thought my nose was blocking up because it felt strange.

Later  the evening  I realised it wasn’t a bug. I was having a reaction to something
I was also scratching my arms, legs, back. Not even realising I was doing it.

It wasn’t until the lip started that I realised what was going on.
I took two antihistamine tablets and waited.
And waited
And waited.

It wasn’t progressing, but then again it wasn’t getting better.
Just when I thought oh man I’m going to have to go to hospital
It started to subside

I had been awake almost the whole night monitoring my lip!
Needless to say. I was very very tired this morning. I finally got out of bed around
8.30.

Today I feel like I’ve been a couple of rounds with a boxing kangaroo
My lip is down but tender
The funning thing is. On Facebook memories the first episode happened today
Ten years ago.

I know!
It doesn’t seem that long. But there you are.
Obviously something is flowering this time of year and my body doesn’t like it

So today I’ve been going slowly.
I cut back the herb garden so that the strawberry pot next to it can get some sun
I gave the clippings to the chickens. Even if they don’t eat them. They’ll smell nice
And I’ve spent a couple of hours watering

Now I’m inside deciding what I’m going to do for the rest of the afternoon.
Whatever it is. It won’t be overly taxing
Just grateful I didn’t have to stab my self
