I bought these a little while back
And I decided I’d pot them up today
I used pots that I already had. You know me I don’t throw anything away.
Filled them with pitting mix and used the off cuts from the chicken coup to make a “cage “ over them
I sprinkled the seeds and thought they were too exposed so I added the mulch.

Until they go into the coop I don’t want small bird eating the seeds
They don’t look pretty but hopefully they work

The theory being the greens will grow through the wire, the chickens can munch away but can’t dig the seedlings out. I’ve also left room enough for the seedlings to grow larger before the chickens can access them
Fingers crossed it all works
If not. Well there is always a plan B
Gourmet dining for the princesses in the castle. Do they have a prince on a white horse?
ReplyDeleteThere will be a prince. Don’t know what colour he’ll be though lol
DeleteYour chooks will be the talk of the town!
ReplyDeleteFamous before I’ve even got them lol
DeleteWhat a grand idea - just like my catgrass that F grows in pots. I hope your chooks like it. xxx Mr T
ReplyDeleteI hope so. I’ve got lots of green waste from the garden they can have in the meantime
DeletePlant some beans and robin ate all of them.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
That’s sad, but it does happen.
DeleteMaybe a wire with some plastic bags attached to blow around in the wind will deter them
